You don't need to but it's a community-building thing. As long as the site that linked isn't spammy, go ahead and approve it. It will show up as a pingback, which looks similar to a comment. Don't worry about "littering" up your blog with the information other people find it worth linking to. This is so far from being a problem you shouldn't give it another thought.

Quick question about related posts. I had another blogger link to one of my posts as a related post and it showed up in my comments screen for approval. Do I need to approve this, and if so will it show up as a "comment" on my blog post? Extremely new here and just don't want to "litter" up my blog. I am totally cool with the link just unclear on the process.

Sure thing! You're able to add your own sources (blogs you write or like to read) as related posts, when creating a new post, via your Zemanta widget. But you'll have to download & install the correct browser extension first: http://zem.si/PqCSDD

After that, go to your Z-Dashboard under the tab 'Preferences'-'My Sources', add those blogs you would like to link to and you should be good-to-go! :)

Hey Dennis!

Well, we certainly respect your view and appreciate your feedback, to be honest! We know we're still far from perfect, but everyday we tackle different challenges that will undoubtedly improve our service even more in the future. And if something, then our users feedback is the one that will help us develop in the right direction.

But in the meanwhile, if you'd just like to link out to your own blogposts, allow me to introduce you our other, second plugin, called 'Related posts by Zemanta', which is completely read-side based. This means, that once you set the parameters in your plugin settings, our aggregator automatically inserts your own Related Posts at the end of your blog-posts.

You're welcome to give it a quick run-test, if you find the time. Just follow the steps on our homepage and you should have your Zemanta plugin installed on your WordPress's Dashboard in no-time. Here's the link: http://www.zemanta.com

I'd also like to hear your thoughts in this experience, but only when you find the time, no rush!

Once again — thanks for your valuable feedback and I'm looking forward to hear from you more. Take care & have a nice day!

Best,
Silvo

Zemanta is a great idea but it still does not work correctly for me. I don´t know... I wrote so much about cats and if I make a new post then the plugin would like to suggest me for example fish tank related or flower related own blogposts.

I will create related post section on my blogposts manually in the future.

But maybe I will try your tool again if it is improved. Because it is a great function you offer, if it would suggest right.

So here is my tip fore improvement. Show the user more then just a few own blogposts in the list or let the user search for own blogposts with the plugin too. Also the database should learn what kind of decisions user make to learnto give better suggestions.

Greetings

Hey!

Hm, this does sound a bit unusual (the thing with older blogposts), we have to admit that.

Do you wait for our widget to analyze the text inside the editor? And you still get recommended unrelated content? Try to copy the already written text, delete it, paste it in the editor again, click on the 'analyze' button, and see if that helps in any way. But don't click on the 'Save' or the 'Update' button while you're doing this, you don't want to mess up your old posts.

Let me know if this helps you in any way.

Hey!

Sure you can! It's a bit easier if your blog is hosted on WP.org, since we have a plugin that does that automatically (insertes related posts from your own blog), but you can do that with our Editorial Assistant manually as well.

First, you'll have to download & install the appropriate browser extension (if you haven't already). You can find them on our downloads page; here's the link: http://zem.si/PqCSDD

After that, click on the 'Sign In'/'Preferences' button, after a pop-up of your Z-Dashboard should appear. Insert the blogs you write (and read) under the tab 'Preferences'-'My Sources', click on the 'Save' button, and after that, you should be able to find those related articles under the 'My Sources' tab of your Zemanta widget, when creating a new post. This way you'll be able to add those articles only you want, from your own sources.

Let me know if I haven't been clear enough or if you need any further assistance — I'll gladly help! Here's my email address: [email redacted]

Extra clicks for older/newer links results in longer page loads. One of the ideas behind scrolling is that the older/newer links result in longer page loads is actually less practical. Scrolling is an attempt to make page loads faster and better. We've made a ton of improvements to the feature, and we're continuing to work on it so your feedback is helpful. You can switch back to full page loads if you'd like, but please keep in mind the structure is subject to change and if that happens at some point then you will be responsible to upload your CSS that changes the way this works accordingly.

Hi, thanks for the help! I like pages more than load more posts because when you come to a blog that's been active for years, scrolling infinitely is just annoying to me and not very practical. I think it works in apps and such, but not on a blog or other website that has a lot of new content on a daily/weekly basis. It's my personal preference, but I understand that some people do like it. That's why having both options would probably make more sense.

I'm glad you're working on a related posts feature, that will save me so much time! I'm doing everything manually now.

Also, I would like to have links at the end of each post - little pictures with links - that would be similar to the post that is being read at that moment - like "you may also like" links.

There's not a way for you to add dynamic content like that to a WordPress.com blog with the CSS editor because CSS can only change the appearance of things that are already on the page and it can't add new dynamic content.

However! We're working on related posts features. I'm not sure when the updates will be out, but when they do they will be announced on http://en.blog.wordpress.com/ so keep an eye on that page for updates.

Hi, I need help with my blog (whisketeers.com). I noticed that to read older posts all we have is a "load more posts" thingy. I really don't like this and I would rather have numbers at the bottom of the blog that would make it possible for readers to go to older posts. Or even an "older/newer posts" link would do it.

Also, I would like to have links at the end of each post - little pictures with links - that would be similar to the post that is being read at that moment - like "you may also like" links.

I reaaally hope both these things are possible to do. I like wordpress, but not having these features makes me want to somewhere else with my blog.

Thank you in advance.

Yes, ok. You have categorized your green juice post as (among other categories and tags) "recipes."

Now make a custom menu which will link to the category "recipes" as I described in the links above.
http://en.support.wordpress.com/menus/
http://wpbtips.wordpress.com/2011/12/19/custom-menus/

Don't worry, it is a bit daunting to set up but once you get the structure of your site it will be easy to use.

Once you have "recipes" as a navigation tab in your custom menu, it will be a simple matter of adding the category "recipes" to any other post you make about recipes.
