Hi, thanks for the very quick answer!

I'd still like to leave my site as public so I don't have to define who has access. But what id ideally like to do is remove these 2 forum posts from a search - and the easiest way I see is to delete them.

I understand that by remaining public, other users can see my site. But what im hoping to achieve is to not advertise I have a site via a web search (and these 2 forum posts means my details still come up via a web search).

So with my website I have set it to stop search engine crawlers, but I assume I cant do the same with these 2 forum posts.

Thanks for the website link for google too. In that case, if the 2 forum posts can be removed from here, ill just hope over time that google will filter them out naturally once it discovers the 2 forum posts don't exist :)

but I keep on getting hits from countries (spammers?) I have no contact with. So I think they are coming via the post below and possibly google referring to that post.

You have a travel site - even if you change visibility there will be a while for Google to clear the cache - you should be getting visits from all over the world - that is the way things work - everyone gets spam - where some of it comes from or how the address is passed around is anybody's guess - but addresses are stored by spammers and they go straight to a post or picture - do not pass go do not collect $ 200-- I doubt the visits have anything to do with anything in the forum -

I help in the forum a lot and have something over 12,000 links from the forum to my site and I get maybe one referral a day on average from the forum - your single post or two here is not significant

Hello,

A while back I posted a question in the forum. No one answered, and I since resolved the problem myself.

However, I choose to make my site not visible from searches etc, but I keep on getting hits from countries (spammers?) I have no contact with. So I think they are coming via the post below and possibly google referring to that post. I have made sure google doesn't crawl my site now using your settings. But the 1st thing that comes up in google when I search, is that post.

In the post below, it shows my site details. I would be very grateful if you could remove the post (not my website tho!). Then I can contact google to remove it from their cache (and the remaining few posts from when I allowed them to crawl my site).

Thanks in advance and much appreciated!

Thanks Nerdygirlom, that was very helpful :) I have managed to add the follow button, you can see how it looks like at evanstang.com. However, can you kindly help me with a couple more questions:

1. Is it possible to change the physical dimensions of the follow button? Currently it is a little too long and the "followers" portion has been cut off.

2. I copied and pasted the twitter button URL, but anything from " onwards (script>!function......) just come out as the raw html codes. Are you able to advise on that?

Follow @Evans_Tang
<script>!function(d,s,id){var js,fjs=d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0];if(!d.getElementById(id)){js=d.createElement(s);js.id=id;js.src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js";fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js,fjs);}}(document,"script","twitter-wjs");</script>

3. Currently, the text in the follow button is "Follow@Evans_Tang". How do I get rid of the @Evans_Tang portion? I just want the button to show "Follow". I unchecked "Show username" on the Twitter website but the html code still comes out with @Evans_Tang.

Thanks very much!

Instead of using the actual Twitter widget, you can just use a text widget and paste in the code for a follow button; that solves both issues in one step, as the Twitter logo is part of the link that will take them to your account.

You can either use the plain ones created by Twitter at https://twitter.com/about/resources/buttons#follow, or Google "Twitter Buttons" to get a more creative one.

The ones from Twitter.com will come with your user information already in the html code. The ones you get from other sites will have some text along the lines of "your info goes here" that you will need to replace with your Twitter url.

I don't really use Facebook, but I assume you can just Google "Facebook Button" and do the same thing.
