So... my question is, is there a way to find out if SHE registered this at some point and never did anything with it?

What follows is for your friend and do note that we would prefer to communicate directly with the friend rather than working through you.

You must be logged in under the exact same username account that registered any blog to access it.

Clicking this link should display all your blogs registered under the same username, including the hidden ones: https://dashboard.wordpress.com/wp-admin/index.php?page=my-blogs&show=hidden

If you do not see the blog here http://en.support.wordpress.com/my-blogs/ then
follow this guide > http://en.support.wordpress.com/my-blogs/#my-blogs-dashboard-visibility

If you have lost your log-in information you can visit https://en.wordpress.com/wp-login.php?action=lostpassword
If required click the "Need More Help" link and complete the form for account recovery.

Also note that what the underlying .wordPress.com blog URL is when one is domain mapping is irrelevant. http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/

I am helping a friend (my cycling coach) design a site using WordPress. Her company name is SavvyBike, and she owns savvybike.com. She wanted to have a blog at savvybike.wordpress.com (which will probably later migrate just to savvybike.com), but it says that site is reserved? browsing ot savvybike.wordpress.com shows that there is no site there... So... my question is, is there a way to find out if SHE registered this at some point and never did anything with it? She Doesn't recall that, but is not sure if a previous web developer of hers did. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

The user "astromedia" registered an account on WordPress.com in December 2008. At that time, the site name "astromedia.wordpress.com" was reserved for the use of that username. As timethief mentioned, site names are reserved for the matching username and cannot be used by anyone else.

If you did register for this account and you still have access to the email address on file, you can request a password reset.

Please make sure you have tried testing different passwords using the reset password form. Often people can remember the password after a few tries.
https://en.wordpress.com/wp-login.php?action=lostpassword

If that won't work, and do not have access to your account email address, we will only accept one of the following alternative account verification options:

* The API key associated with the account. Please see this link for more information on API keys:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/api-keys/

* A Paypal Transaction ID for any upgrades purchased for the account. Keep in mind that since PayPal is our sole payment processor behind-the-scenes, this transaction ID was generated even if you paid via credit card or another method:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/paypal-transaction-id/

If none of this information is available, I'm afraid there's nothing else we can do to assist you in recovering this account.

Please let me know if you have any other questions.

I was looking at moving my blog to wordpress when i spotted my name was reserved, this is somewhat concerning, as i'm a local politician, and our local elections are about a month away where i will be standing for re-election, so as you can imagine I like to keep an eye on my public image as im a public figure here. the website in question is adamcrickett.wordpress.com and proof of name etc http://www.camborne-tc.gov.uk/councillors-north-ward.php#39 you can also send requests for confirmation at the email address on the Camborne Town council website, which i hope you note is a .gov.uk, which should lend some credence to this. many thanks. Cllr Adam Crickett, Camborne Town Council.

My name is "reserved" for a wordpress blog. I had used it to create a business blog, then changed the username and address, and now I can't use those names for my personal blog.
