Thank you for your prompt reply timethief.

This is simply awful especially when it auto saves at 2 minute intervals.

This is definitely something that needs to be fixed. If you cannot delete old revisions you are subject to constant prompting reminders of more recent revisions even if you do not desire to use them. It is too much and as such easily becomes a hassle to locate the revision you desire.

The information on the page you provided a link to is incorrect. I have several auto save revisions for the same page, same post, and I have seen several where the auto save saves a new version independent of the previous just saved two minutes prior.

This makes WordPress less desirable for me and I am sure I am not alone in this. I don't want my blog to be saved every 2 minutes and I don't want a list of the 25 latest revisions every time I view a revision.

There should at least be an option to turn off the auto save or to set it at a specific time interval.

I do concede that an auto save feature has its use but this is simply ridiculous and I find it quite unprofessional. I cannot believe that I am the only person that knows how to save their work at regular intervals.

I just spend 3 hours writing a post on my computer and then went to my iphone and saw that there was an older version on there...so I hit the "Update" button, thinking it would update the version on my iPhone. Instead it over-wrote my newer version with the older version!

I'm sure this must have been suggested already but I can't find a post suggesting exactly my idea.

Instead of the "Top Posts & Pages" widget I would much prefer it if there were two separate widgets:

1. A "Top Posts" widget that only referenced blog post entries.

2. A "Top Pages" widget that only referenced Pages.

Alternatively, change the current widget slightly: add a radio button to choose from 3 options: "Top Posts and Pages"; Top Posts only"; "Top Pages only".

The combination of Posts and Pages in the current widget is distracting and unnatural. People interested only in Posts or Pages have no way of knowing if the entry is a Page or a Post. It takes them to things they may have no interest in whatsoever.

Nobody needs to know that my "Contact Me" Page is popular! If they want to contact me it's easy to find since it's prominently displayed in my menu and I have a link to it on every single one of my Pages (I'm in business - of course I want potential clients to contact me, so I make it easy for them to do so).

But I have lots of readers who are not potential clients since I only service a very limited geographical area; those readers aren't interested in my business, they are interested in my ideas and free educational material that I disseminate in my blog as a way of giving something back to the community. A reader in Nova Scotia is not going to be interested in hiring me - I only service clients in Perth, Western Australia! If they don't want to contact me why on earth would they want to click on the link in the widget?

And please! Make the Widget reference all-time statistics, not just the last day or so! My all time most popular post, a post that has had over twice as many total views as my next most popular post comes 9th on the list with the current widget! It's gratifying to know that people are still reading a post I wrote 6 months ago, but it completely distorts the impression of the impact this post has had on my readers.

That's part of a glitch with drafts that has been going on for months (and with WP pretending they don't know anything about it). Just don't use drafts: when you start a new post, write a couple of words or lines, set the post visibility to private, publish the post, continue editing and updating, turn to public when finished.

a Why don't you Edit it and add a category. The category box is on the right and if you haven't used any categories before, you have to type one in. You can have up to about 12 tags and/or categories on a single post, but just try to keep it relevant.

b Tags are added in similar manner, below the post in the Edit box. They apply to the POST and not to the paragraph.

c No, WordPress.com doesn't do that. That would look awfully 1997. Google will do that if someone comes to your blog searching for a specific term.

d Where? Avatars take several hours to propagate across the web, up to one day. It's recommended to upload yours right at Gravatar.com

e Upload your own custom header under Appearance->Themes-.Custom Header on your dashboard.

Last night I published my first article at <http://adelaidepete.wordpress.com/category/uncategorized/>.
I now notice that it is:
a. unhelpfully categorized as uncategorized rather than something like commentary or musing or even public policy,
b. lacks tags for the key words or topic for each paragraph
- viz. Adelaide, Trams, Bicycle Lanes, Freeways, Roundabouts, Traffic Lights, UPS, Politicians,
c. does not highlight the above words to assist scan readers,
d. shows an abstract image rather than the photo I put in my profile, and
e. features a panoramic photo that, while beautiful, has no relationship to my topic - I'd rather the Adelaide skyline or view from space.
How can I retrospectively tweak these look-and-feel or indexing aspects that do not change narrative content itself?
