Those are not feeds, those are plain old URLs. You need to get the FEED address for the Twitter search. I'm not sure if it's as simple as https://twitter.com/search?q=%23cmscu/feed but you can often run something through Feedburner and get a useable feed.

Thank you very much for the advice.
I have tried putting https://twitter.com/search?q=%23cmscu into the RSS feed URL, but I get:

RSS Error: A feed could not be found at https://twitter.com/search?q=%23cmscu. A feed with an invalid mime type may fall victim to this error, or SimplePie was unable to auto-discover it.. Use force_feed() if you are certain this URL is a real feed.

I have tried force_feed(https://twitter.com/search?q=%23cmscu) and force_feed('https://twitter.com/search?q=%23cmscu') and force_feed(https://twitter.com/search?q=#cmscu) without success.

Any more help?

Why don't you use the feed from Pinterest and put it in an RSS widget? It won't have images, but it will link.

I'm sorry but we cannot use JavaScript widgets and I'm not in the know about any workarounds.

I'd love to add a Pinterest latest pins widget. Specifically, I'd like to have pins from two boards. Unfortunately, such a widget doesn't (yet) exist, and I'm not wordpress.org user, and therefor have no access to the plug-ins that would make this easier. Is there a work-around? I know how to add a "follow me on Pinterest" button, but it's really the collage of garden inspiration images that I'm looking for.

You can't do that with the Twitter widget, which is designed to show all your tweets. You CAN do that with the RSS widget, though. Just put in the feed address for the twitter hashtag.

Dear WordPress Code Wizards:

I think you should add a new feature to the RSS Widget that, when selected, would allow RSS feed links to pop open in a new window. (You know, the old target="_blank" code added to an a href, which pops open the link in a new window.)

You should add this option to the RSS widget because it would keep people on WordPress sites much longer. Otherwise, blog readers click on an RSS link/article and in doing so exit the WordPress blog -- which is not what we all want.

I really like using the RSS Widget, but it would be awesome if my feed links/articles popped open a new viewing window for my readers. That way they could stay on my WordPress blog longer.

I envision a simple checkmark option that allows WordPress bloggers to turn the feature on or off from inside the RSS widget.

Please respond and let me know if you will add that feature to the RSS widget.

The inexplicable behavior seems to have become explicable - for the first time since I started using the widget.

It took the self-referencing posts a while to disappear from the RSS feed after deleting them from the Tumblr site, so I suspect there may be a policy or something in the code preventing such a thing. Makes sense anyway.

Curious to know for sure, but I'm not gonna worry about it.

I suppose it might help. The feed is http://teratoma.tk/rss ...The one that works fine is http://minecraft.teratoma.tk/rss ...I I suppose I didn't think about it since they both work in other readers.

I'm trying to display a Tumblr RSS feed in my sidebar, but it shows "An error has occurred; the feed is probably down. Try again later." This feed works with Netvibes and Google, so I know it's not down. The widget title links to the blog's URL or the individual post's.

Oddly, I'm using two other instances of the RSS widget with no problems. One of them is a Tumblr RSS as well. Both that one, and the one I'm having trouble with use custom .tk domains.

I've tried removing the working one, thinking perhaps only one was allowed, but that didn't work.

The one causing problems had items shared from the source blog. Could that cause some kind of feedback/time-out? I removed those posts, but perhaps they're still causing problems for the feed?

I don't know, just guessing. I can't think of anything about it that differs from the one that works.

On a Mac using Chrome, that turns almost all the text in all the widgets red after I plug in my color. (The content is almost all links, but I don't want a sea of "link color" in my sidebars.) The code needs to specify just the two RSS widgets, I think, but I can't figure out how to do it. Frustrating, because it seems like it should be fairly easy. Thanks, though. Nice seeing you again.

The titles of the RSS widgets are links, so they have different colors in most cases to differentiate them from normal, non-link titles. There are two colors: the non-hover color (first bit of CSS below) and then the color when you hover a mouse over the title (second bit of CSS). Add the following to the bottom of your existing custom CSS and then edit the hex color codes as you desire.

color: #224970;
}

.widget a:hover {
color: #000000;
}

Could someone help me with the code to change the color of the heads on my two RSS widgets? I've succeeded in getting all the other widget heads to display in red (#CF0300), but can't seem to get the code right to change the heads in the two RSS widgets, titled "The Great Outdoors" and "The Last Word." I'd really appreciate the help.

You can create a blogroll and enter the links into it and display them in a Links widget.

One more alternative exists. The RSS Widget displays posts from any RSS feed. You might find this handy if you want to show off one of your other blogs, or one of your favorite blogs, in your sidebar.

You're welcome. If that does not suit you then you can create a static page and enter links manually. That's what I prefer to do.

Through my blog, I want to direct people through links to other websites, articles online, etc. that I consider worthwhile content. I would like to also perhaps aggregate such external content someplace on my blog in an archive. Doable? if so, how?
