I apologize for messing up this thread you. No scheduled post will publish until a visitor clicks into the blog. Publishing will also result in posting to Twitter.

Yes that's what she is saying and it's what I said above as well.

Scheduled posts do not publish until a visitor clicks into the blog after the time the post is scheduled to be published.

Raincoaster - Are you saying that someone has to go to my blog before a post is published? Is there no way to schedule a post to publish where it actually publishes at the scheduled time regardless of whether or not someone visits my blog?

I guess my bottom-line desire is this: I want to schedule a post to publish at 8:30 Tuesday morning. I also want it to go to Twitter at the same time. Is that possible?

The post will display the time it was scheduled to publish, not the time it ACTUALLY published.

True but that's not what geojono reports above. He reports a 3 hour delay.

The publicization is another RSS function, which is also related to the Scheduled Post. In all cases, the feed doesn't go out till someone visits the blog.

Hi there,
Scheduled posts do not publish until a visitor clicks into the blog after the time the post is scheduled to be published.

As far as your Twitter delay question goes I don't have an answer to it. I tagged this thread for a Staff response. Will both of you bloggers please subscribe to this thread so your are notified when Staff respond?

Geojono: That's exactly what happened to me today and week before last. Right now I'm only posting once a week and it's scheduled for the wee hours of the morning on Tuesdays. Both times it published on time but did not post to Twitter until I logged in to WordPress and then it posted to Twitter immediately and also emailed to my followers.

TimeThief: Thanks but I'm not posting it to Facebook from WordPress. I posting it to Twitter that then posts to my Facebook page.

@timethief - I'm not sure if this relates, but here's what happened with mine this morning.

Last night I completed a post and I scheduled it to post this morning at 8:30. At 11:15 this morning, I logged into WordPress and it was at that moment the post went to Twitter. I checked that the post published on WordPress at 8:30 and it had, so no problem there. But why did it not post to Twitter until I logged into WordPress almost 3 hours later?

1. Try flushing your FB cache but disconnect from FB first http://umairj.com/146/how-to-clear-facebook-shares-cache/
2. Try the full reconnect procedure again detailed at http://en.support.wordpress.com/publicize/#reconnecting-facebook including step 3 (removing the FB app), which is probably the most important step.

Note: RSS Grafitti http://www.facebook.com/RSS.Graffiti can be used for posting to Facebook walls if you prefer. RSS Graffiti periodically checks the RSS/Atom feeds that you specify and posts any new entries it finds to the Facebook Walls that you specify. You can get any feed written on any wall (Facebook Profiles, Fan Pages, Groups, Events and Application Profile Pages). In fact, multiple feeds to multiple walls. You choose the combination.

The strange thing is I used this feature off and on for the past few years and it worked perfectly . . . without being logged into WordPress. It even worked last week. But the week before and now again this week, it didn't worked.

I have no clue.

Is this a glitch? Are they working on the issue? Is there anyway to actually communicate with someone at WordPress that might have some answers?!?

I am having the same problem (geojono.wordpress.com).

I found this in the help pages:
"If you schedule a post, it will not be Publicized until it is actually published. You must still be connected to an external service at publish time for Publicize to work."

Does this mean that I have to actually be logged into WordPress and Twitter on my computer in order for the post to go to Twitter? That seems odd to me, but that's what it sounds like.

Why isn't my new post publicized automatically? I have to go in the next morning and log in for it to push it to Twitter and email my followers. It works sometimes and sometimes it doesn't. I never know.

Is there something going on? I can't choose a time to schedule a post. I can't enter any numbers in the boxes for the post time. I also couldn't enter numbers in the boxes for editing a photo to resize it. I've been able to do this every other day, so I know it's not something I'm doing wrong. Is there a glitch today?

The clock is just fine you live in the wrong time zone - move or see below

Dashboard >> Settings >> General >> Find a city in the same time zone as you do - remember to save changes

I think whoever set up the 'Scheduling' clock for WordPress did not do it correctly.
If you want something posted at 3am, then the hour should read 3. But it won't post until 3pm, which is really 15.00.
I have realized that I have to use it 'incorrectly' for the post to be posted 'correctly.'

Please note: 'In the 24-hour time notation, the day begins at midnight, 00:00, and the last minute of the day begins at 23:59. Where convenient, the notation 24:00 may also be used to refer to midnight at the end of a given date[5] — that is, 24:00 of one day is the same time as 00:00 of the following day.'

We are the Armenian Church, and we use WordPress to post daily Bible readings. Our blog posts are preset to go live every day at midnight. It worked find for months, but in the past week the posts stopped appearing at midnight. Can you help?

For some reason, every post I've tried to schedule this week (I stagger my posts, and they're supposed to go up at the same times every day) has said "Missed Schedule." All I have to do is Quick Edit and Update the posts and they appear, but they aren't going up when they've been scheduled to do so. Any ideas?

I didn't delete the post. Like the proverbial engine noise that stopped as soon as the car was driven to the mechanic--the problem disappeared almost as soon as I contacted the support forum. Many thanks anyway.

I don't see "Do antidepressants..." in the Top Post widget. Did you delete the post?

I have a post scheduled to publish Aug 17th that I got feedback on from a colleague. It's not set to publish until Aug. 17 yet it's already listed as a Top Post in the Top Post/Page Widget. How does that happen? You click on it and of course it gives you the error code for page not found.

You can set the time zone on this page > Settings > General
Timezone is set to Coordinated Universal Time, UTC by default, which is in London, UK. If you live in a different area of the world you will likely want to change this option.
