@ rurounirew Yes, I am also getting error of "too short or too long description".. I tried surfing about this thing on google and I got the explanation that on wordpress.com, tagline are what they call description.. So, I tried both ways, I kept the tagline long and short too but in both the cases error was same.

@raincoaster Actually, the main problem is that not only the posts are assigned h1 tags but also the widget titles are assigned the same tag (as bing is showing).. So, even if you go on some page on the site (other than home page), you will get the same error of multiple h1 tags.

I don't know what to do.. I really want to stick with this theme, its working out fine for me.. Can anyone flag this question for the wordpress.com staff??

Well, I don't know why that would be a problem, it just means you have lots of headers, as Oxygen does. You could use a different theme or reduce the number of posts that are displayed on the main page, but I doubt that this is a serious problem.

Hey, I don't exactly have an answer. I'm using "From Dusk Til Dawn" and getting dinged on the same thing. According to Bing its a "high" priority, so I'm looking to fix it quick. And not only that, but also "too long or too short title" and "too short, or too long description." If you're not getting those I'm thinking its more of a theme issue and both you and me are going to need to change themes to something more SEO friendly. But I'd love to hear from some other more experienced people before I jump to any other themes, I really like the one I'm using.

I think if you are getting on page three that is not so bad, but I understand. I'm usually getting comments (spam?) that recommends some kind of SEO to increase ranking but I don't know if a free wordpress blog can do better then by tags. i think your question about html is a good one and probably possible if you know what you are doing in code. Keywords are one way to improve search ranking. Keywords (tags) and content should match. I don't know everything about it but there are some good sites for checking on SEO that are free. Hubspot is one. Good luck, I like your blog and I like to cook, too. I'm not the fussy eater in my house though. I usually end up cooking two meals. Cheers. --Jeff

I'm new to this, so I might be missing something. I've noticed that at best, my blog show up on the 3rd or 4th page of searches that I would like to show up higher on. Is there a way to get posts to show up higher in search rankings? Is it based on tags? Can free WordPress hosted blogs include HTML code to boost search ranking? How are others getting better search ranking?

No, if the search engines have already indexed a post, then deleting it will produce a 404 and the search engines get cranky.

In webmaster tools, you can submit URL's of your own stuff to have them remove them from their indexes. It typically will take 2-3 weeks for google to get them removed. Sometimes sooner.

Generally it is a really bad idea to publish stuff and then a while later delete them. You will always suffer in the end due to the 404 errors and cranky search engines.

And Google is not your only problem. Any search engine that has indexed those posts will be getting 404's, and getting cranky also.

Thanks. Set up the Webmaster Tools and discovered that I had 67 404s (as a result of the post deletion issues described above). These appeared on the same day I disappeared from Google. I realise this could be a coincidence, but I'm concerned the two are related. Is it possible to delete a post without ending up with these crawl errors or do I just have to sit it out?
