I have been looking on the internet and found something easer for myself. I found the tk domain name that you can use for free or payed. Here you have the possiblity to ad a discription and keywords so searchengines can find the domain name. There is also the possiblity to create virtual e-mail adresses for forwarding e-mail. So it has enough possiblities for some one like me. I am not that into DNS stuff etc.

The name stays with an outside Registrar - WordPress.COM is not able to accept incoming domain name transfers -

As per the instructions in the link above - you change the name servers to point to here. You then buy domain mapping for your blog which attaches your domain name to your blog - all that changes is the address visitors see - you still make changes in the regular dashboard you have now with the same address it has now - .net ,org .com - most top level domain names are supported here

Sorry that it took a while for me to get back on this. I don't quite understand what it says. What would I have to do? Move the domain name to WordPress? It is by the way a .net domain. And if it has to be moved to WordPress, can you ad information so searchengines can find the domain name?

Hi every one,

I have a question about a domainname. I used to have a website but I ended it. Ik want to keep the domain name and re-direct it to my weglog here. My question is : how can I make that domain name found by search engines from the weblog? Is it even possible? The domain name is being parked soon but I can not ad tags or anything to the parked domain name. So, can I do something with that from WordPress to make the domain name visible for searchengines etc?

Thanks! That's what I was trying to saying but wasn't quite sure how to put it. But yes, they are typed in on the new post creation page but I'd prefer if they weren't visible under each post for my readers to see. Not because I don't want them to see the keywords but because I feel like it looks messy that way. Thanks for your feedback!

If they are "hidden" the search engines will still see them since they will still be in the generated HTML, just not visible on the blog.

Thanks for your reply. I still plan to tag the posts on the posting page (the area where you can type in tags and categories) but just wondered if I didn't include them visibilly on my blog if the search engines could still find them? It seems like it's an option to show the tags and categories on the blog. I'm not sure if that made any sense. Hah!

Tags are an aid for search engines just as categories are, but if you do not tag or categorize posts, then the search engines are going to look through the post and pull out their own search keywords from the content. Sometimes this works just fine, but sometimes it does not. Sometimes the search engines grab words that have little to do with the content or subject matter. By taking some time to categorize and tag your posts, you are taking more control of where you content shows up in searches (I say "more" because the search engines still might grab some of their own keywords as well).

I am wondering if I choose to not include the tags & categories with each post if this will have a negative effect on how my blogs appears in search engines? I still plan to type in keywords when I'm creating a new post but I feel like it make my blog look really busy, especially if a particular post has a larger number of keywords. Any tips?

Also, contact staff and ask them to take a look at things. They have a lot of ways to look at things on their end that we volunteers do not have.

It seems most of the blogs on that particular tag page list posts at the earliest from about 3 weeks ago. But if I do a search using the search box in the upper right hand corner of the tag page and then sort by "recent", I get this

Perhaps it'd be best to contact Support directly as to why the global tag page for ICCPR isn't updated more frequently. http://en.support.wordpress.com/contact/

After looking around, one thing that might be getting you excluded is that staff have said that any blog with over a total of 10 tags + categories can be excluded from the global tags pages.

I'm really taking about the WordPress tags. If I click on the ICCPR tag, for instance, by other (and younger) blog shows up, not this one.

That blog is indexed by google and also by bing: http://ismyblogworking.com/teamoyeniyi.wordpress.com .

Also, do NOT put the www in your URL. WordPress does not use them and that can cause false results with search engines.

Put the following into the google search box: site:teamoyeniyi.wordpress.com

Besides, your blog is still only about a month and a half old. It will take 6 months to a year for you to build enough page rank to start showing up higher in searches with the search engines.

They don't find mine either and I post up to twice a day. Google has no problem. Also, WordPress has no problem with my other blog, just the http://www.teamoyeniyi.wordpress.com one.

You have two posts. One in September and one in December. Posting once every 3 months is not going to endure you to the search engines. After several weeks of seeing no new content, they basically set you in the "dead" file and then only take a look every month or so.

And with only two posts, you have a page rank of absolute zero, which means if you show up at all in searches for certain terms, you are going to be on page 500,831.

Crank out posts on a regular basis (once a week). Give the search engines something to find and look at.

What words did you use in your Google search? Among other search terms in Google, I tried the complete phrase "are we safe now" and got only 2 hits, none of which were mine. In the search in WordPress I used the words Obama, midterm election, economy, exit polls, and safe and got 46 hits, again none were mine. And by the way, what's the number of posts have to do with this?

I will search the Forum... again.

I have used the exact phrase "are we safe now" in the "find anywhere in title" in the advanced search in Yahoo and Yahoo can't find by blog that has this phrase in the title. In the wordpress.com search block I have used my tags and several words that appear in my blog but the blog is not one of the many that come up. I had specified enough words in the search such that only 58 blogs were found and mine was not one of them. My blog is essentially invisible. What do I need to do?

It may take between 3 - 6 months for Google to clear their image cache. However you may be able to use the The URL Removal Tool and expedite the removal. If you have deleted a web page or an image and it has been removed from the server and, the URL returns a 404 page not found error, then you can request Google to remove the page from their indexed cache. So I have a dilemna. I did a photoshoot with a model who has requested I delete a photo of her, or remove her name from the information listed with the image.
She would like thsi done for professional reasons which I am more then happy to do this.
Problem is, I've deleted the image entirely, but it still comes up with the information when you search her name/the page. Even though it no longer exists.
How to I stop this from happening?

Every post we publish that we assign tags or categories or both to will be found in the wordpress.com global tagging pages. they are displayed there in accord with their original date/time stamps.

I am still confused as to what I need to do to have my blog show up under the general search.wordpress.com search engine, under specific search criteria like "KI" or "Kelp." I understand the concept of tagging, but from what I understand, the global tag pages only feature some of the articles with those tags.
