Note that all the blogs under one account (email) will show the same gravatar. So if your goal is to have separate, independent blogs then you'd use a different email.

If you want the two blogs to be completely separate from each other you can set up a new account with a different email address and different password.

But you can also set up another (or more) blogs on your current account and use one password to log into them. After you log in you'll see a list of the blogs connected to that account when you hover over your gravatar on your administration bar on the top right. Choose the one you want to edit.

For example I have two blogs using my work email, and several blogs using my personal email. For practical reasons I wanted them completely independent of each other.

No, you can create another blog on the same account from the Manage My Blogs page.

hi,
i have setup a blog with a login using my gmail account to login with. but i would also like to create a separate blog about a different subject but do i have to create another log in etc?

Thanks so much. I'm thinking it may not be too late if I can shut down my 2nd blog (which I haven't done anything with other than create and name) and create a new one using a different username. I have not done the mapping yet.

It's already too late, if you want to be particular. Becuase you created both from the same username and probably posted to both from it. To keep it clean, you'd want two completely separate logins, from separate usernames.

But it doesn't sound like you're talking about privacy concerns. One blog is designated Primary so when you leave comments, like here, your username links to it. That's all. It doesn't make a difference to your readers. If they have the URL of the blog they want, they can go there.

I'm getting ready to map the domain name for a 2nd wordpress blog, but don't want these blogs to be connected in any way. When someone types in the url for blog 1, I want them to be connected to blog 1. Ditto for blog 2. I thought this would happen automatically, but now I'm not sure because it seems I have to designate one blog as a primary blog. Can anyone explain to me how this works?

And I'm very thankful for your reply, but I do feel like there are nicer ways to reply to people. I completely understand that people here are volunteers, but sometimes you guys respond in a mean way. I did read your reply as 'mean', but maybe that wasn't you intention :)

I also know/understand that the problem isn't regarding the language. I was just wondering if it was possible to do, such as with other themes, where you can set a 'keyword' in the posts, to have them appear in the front page. Now I know that's not possible in this one.

I don't see why you consider my reply "pompous and stingy". In essence you asked the same question again. The problem has nothing to do with the language, it has to do precisely with the fact that you cannot exclude a post from showing on the main posts page. And I gave you the correct solution from the start: you need two blogs, and you need to link from the one to the other.

There's no way to do that using a single blog: you need two separate blogs.

I've read other threads about issues similar as this, but I haven't found the answer I'm looking for.

My blog is both in English and Spanish. I want to have the English version of the posts in the home page (with the slider, etc), but have the Spanish posts in a separate category. The problem is that, when I post the ones in Spanish they, too, appear on the front page. Obviously, it looks silly to have repeated posts.

I could also have them click a 'Click here for Spanish' link in each post but, again, the Spanish version would show up on the front page, too. Any ideas?

I do want to keep the slider there, so making a static page doesn't seem like an option. Thanks very much!

RATS! Sorry. Now I understand that you are referring to infinite scroll. Staff have been introducing “infinite scroll" to themes — a site wide change that will be applied to all themes that are suitable for the implementation.

Disabling the infinite scroll feature to get rid of the pop-up in the footer results in a "Load More Posts" tab, and you can't disable that "Load More Posts" tab from appearing and have "previous post" and "next post" links, without the Custom Design upgrade. http://en.support.wordpress.com/custom-design/

look for:
To infinity and beyond __ Scroll Infinitely
(Shows 7 posts on each load)

P.S. If you have done that then and it's not working pleas post again as Staff could be improving the theme and that could be conflicting with what you are doing.

There is only one main page in any blog for posts that we can post to and we cannot exclude posts from the main page for posts. By default that page is the front page of the blog.

Pages we bloggers create are static ie. they do not automatically update and are for content that rarely changes. Only the dynamic Categories pages created by the software when we assign Categories to Posts will automatically update.

The front page of the blog by default will display your posts (not pages) in reverse chronological order, with the most recently published post on top. Though there is only one dynamic page in a blog for posts and we cannot post to more than that one page, we can create the appearance that we have posted to more than one page.

We organize posts by assigning categories to them. You can create a custom menu and add the dynamic automatically updating categories pages created by the software into the custom menu.

I followed the instructions below. It appeared to be working yesterday. Today however, all my posts have been faithfully presented - yet again - on my home page. Despite repeated instructions – the ones that have been advised – not to do this.

Good: there's no other solution. The sidebar isn't a section of a specific page, it's a section of the theme: it's one and the same sidebar no matter what page you're on.

i solved this by creating separate blogs for each band, and then putting the links in a drop down menu. a bit cumbersome so i'm still looking for a better solution.

I have a blog detailing my various musical projects, and what i'm trying to accomplish is: from the home menu, a drop down entitled "musical projects blah blah" and in the drop down, a page each for the various bands i play in, and then on each page, a separate sidebar with content (twitter widget, links, etc etc) that doesn't show up in the REST of the pages' sidebars, including my home page. I'm really, really new to wordpress.com, so forgive me if i sound like an idiot.

When we publish a post and assign Categories to it the software display it on the main page for posts and also on Archives pages and the Categories pages supplied by the software -- not to any pages that you create. You create a custom menu and include the Categories page supplied by the software in it.

Ok, so I can't use pages. What I'm getting here is that I can make "category" pages that will display posts tagged with a certain category. That works for me. Can anyone tell me how to create a page that does this?

What you really want is to categorize your blog posts properly, and then as TSP said, they will automatically come up in the proper category pages. You cannot 'move' them to static pages. They are automatically included on your dynamic, built-in category pages.
