1) OH! Well, that's alright then! You've answered all three of my questions with your response to the first one. A CONTACT US PAGE it is !

2) Sorry for any confusion re: posts, re: pages. See above for revelation about the "Contact Us" page for my main menu.

3) Somehow I got the harebrained idea that the Contact Form allowed you to respond privately to an email on your WP blog itself without going through your usual email program.

I had no intention of responding to M. publicly. That's what the comment section is for! (As for M., we email one another all the time. M. was using the contact form to be sweet.)

To clarify further (hopefully): Raincoaster, I thought you could reply by email to a Contact Form email via Feedbacks on your WP blog.

It is beginning to dawn on me how redundant that would be. I just thought... that... Hmmm. I don't know how I got that impression, but it's probably an idea I made up whole cloth in my head. And now I am feeling quite dumb indeed.

Thank you for the clarification, Raincoaster! Sorry for any trouble!

1) everything put in the comment form goes to your email. You can put the comment form in your blog anywhere you want, but most people just put it in a Contact Us page

2) I have no idea what you're talking about.

3) You can email her. That's how the Contact Form works. It is not for sharing with the community. If that's what you want to do, use comments.

Dear WordPressonians,

Given the spammy state of things lately, I've decided to make a contact form, so that people can send me comments within my blog, instead of giving out my email address for my blog.

I finally got the form all sussed, and even put it up as a post.

And then all heck broke loose.

I cannot find the answers to the following questions:

1) Where do I put this contact form?

I was planning on putting it on the bottom of many posts and at the end of most pages.

For some reason, I thought any contact page I made had a link that was built into the WP post form and the page form— much like regular comments, shares, or likes are built into the post/page forms.

2) If I made this thing up in my head about the contact forms and posts/pages, where/how do make that contact form available for posts and pages?

Should I just add a link at the bottom of each post? (That seems rather clunky.)

What about pages?

Oh my gosh, I am so confused!

3) My friend M. already sent me a HILARIOUS comment via the contact form. (The one I put up as a single post, remember?) And I cannot figure out how to respond to M.!

When I go to "feedbacks" in the dashboard all I can see are two buttons where I can delete her comment or report it as spam. I would like to reply to M.'s comment. Very much so!

How or where can I respond to M.'s comment about the kittens and the Cylons?

From my email? Wouldn't that defeat the purpose of a contact form obscuring my email information?

I appreciate any and all help or links you can offer on this specific subject. The comment form thing, I mean. Not the kittens and Cylons thing.

Thanks bunches,

Courtenay Bluebird

Hi everyone,

I'm new to this and so confused!

Basically I purchased two domains with 123-reg, but their website templates are ugly. I want a wordpress one as I am familiar with it. (I run my personal blog on wordpress). http://www.hannahsnote.com

123-reg aren't been useful saying I just need to 'point' to wordpress and wordpress will tell me what to do. I don't know what pointing is. But i can't find any information from wordpress telling me what to do. I need sort of a step-by-step guide.

I'm meant to ask WordPress which method should I use:
"Web forwarding
DNS - using an A record or a CNAME record
Nameservers"

So if anyone knows what method I should use, or any clues on how to use my pre-bought domain names on wordpress that would be amazing help. I'm not good with technical stuff!

Thank you!

P.S. - my pre-bought domains are room4pr.com and .co.uk

Alright, so I won't lie, I am not that familiar with web chat. I have no idea what FTP means.

I am not sure what to do from here. I am trying to set up a site that is similar to Urbanspoon, or another variation of that. Any suggestions?

In a nutshell there is no FTP access to free hosted WordPress.COM blogs and we cannot install plugins, upload third-party themes, or edit templates or themes.
http://en.support.wordpress.com/ftp-access/
http://en.support.wordpress.com/plugins/
http://en.support.wordpress.com/themes/adding-new-themes/

There is no upgrade that you can purchase from WordPress.com that provides FTP access, plugins, uploading third-party themes, or editing templates or themes. For those you will have to hire a web host and set up a self hosted WordPress.org install.
