The claim is that a password is not needed for viewing the posts via link. Probably the claimants' browser options are set to "remember passwords"; claimants possess the password, had previously logged in, then claim that they are able to magically follow links on social sites to my posts.
I just want to make absolutely certain that it's them, and not anything on my end; is there any way to access a protected post, without possessing the proper password?

Would it be possible to do the same in this situation?

You might want to mention this to Support directly as only they have access to the back end of our blogs. http://en.support.wordpress.com/contact/ enter anything in the search box and then click "no" if the contact form does not appear.

It seems to be an artifact of the sharing module showing up in a strange place.

Can you clarify how the note you reference plays into what I'm seeing. I just don't get it (isn't the first time, won't be the last).
