You can rearrange elements you can add to a page using custom CSS, which is part of the Custom Design upgrade. With that option, you can adjust the appearance of things which are already on the page, but you cannot add new, dynamic content. This means you can move the sharing buttons but you cannot duplicate them.

To get social media buttons in the sidebar (not exactly the same as sharing buttons but might be of interest to you), try the About Me widget:

The share buttons are set through the Settings > Sharing feature and in the WordPress Widgets screen through the various sharing Widgets. They are styled by each WordPress Theme individually and can only be rearranged in the sidebar and footer area with Widgets or if the Theme permits such customization as a Theme option.

Hi,
How do you get the share buttons to the top of a post as well as the standard position at the bottom?
Also, can I get the floating sharing buttons thing happening at the side?

The "share" and "like" buttons seem to be there when there are two posts published, but not when there is only one. I wonder if that is because they don't appear when you view the site as a front page containing posts, but only when you view each post individually.

I'm having the same problem. My Settings are correct where I enabled share. The share boxes are checked and they are checked at the bottom of each new post I create. When I view the blog from my account, the buttons show. But when I view the blog as a regular user, they do not show. Please help.

Actually I've found that if I delete the second "test post", the sharing buttons on my first post also disappear. However I do have plans to write another post very soon so I will leave the "test post" in place.

The share buttons are set to show on individual posts and pages.

I did select the share buttons after I published the post, and I have just done a "test post" to see if they appeared on that. They did, and they also then appeared on the original post too, so this seems to have sorted out the problem!

I have published a new blog at http://democracyisntworking.wordpress.com/ - however I can't get the share buttons to show on it. I have accessed them at Settings - sharing, and have dragged the icons into the "enable sharing" box. I have also checked the "show sharing buttons on this post" box and have then clicked "Save changes", but they just don't show on the post. How can I get them to show?

Hello,
i know its maybe on the wrong forum, but this problem i have is related to jetpack. i have the lastes version of wordpress and the latest jetpack plugin on a selfhosted wp blog. i would like to have a wordpress like button wich i can not find it in the sharing menu.even that checkbox wich you can or not to have a wp like button i dont have it on my blog. can some1 tell me how to have a wp like button on a selfhosted blog as shown in the video tutorials and in wp documentation?thank u

I like your blog. The colors are bright and clean. Wish I had fancy backpacks like the ones you featured when I was in high school. I kept a lot of diaries back in the day, and I still have some of them. It's fun to read them and recall what I was like at your age. Keep on writing.

Thank you. I just added it but it appears on the sidebar, which is fine but I really want the icon to appear at the end of each post, along with the standard Like button (not the Facebook one). Any idea how to place the icon at the end of each story posted?

The sidebar icon also displays your Tweets, and I don't really want them displayed but there isn't an option to type in Zero. Frustrating :)

Got to your dashboard and then go to appearance and widgets, then you want to scroll down the avaible widgets and drag the twitter one across to the sidebar,and put in your twitter username and there is a box that has display follow button and you want to click on that box. Then click save and your done. Hope I help

I am trying to add a follow me on twitter button to my blog. I've read the instructions but where it states "copy and past the code into the HTML for your site" isn't clear. Where is the HTML for my site" into where I'm supposed to copy the code?

Oh, that's what you mean. Sorry. Yes, I can see them. No I don't believe there's a way to have them display only on the post on its own page and not the Showcase page.

Hmmm, you can't see the "Print & PDF" button or the "Email" button? I want them off on the front page, but they are being displayed as part of the most recent post and I can't figure out how to not show them without turning them off for all posts.

I'm using the Twenty Eleven theme with a Showcase configuration. I like the set up a lot, but when I have the sharing buttons turned on they are visible on the front page in the section that displays my latest posts. When I disable "show buttons" (Settings --> Sharing) the buttons are not displayed on the front page, but they are also not available for the individual posts.

I would like to have a front page where the sharing buttons are not visible, but individual posts do show them. Is there a setting that I'm missing?

Hi there

Something that I have noticed over the last week or 2 is that the pinterest button in the official "sharing" buttons at the bottom of each blog-post covers the facebook button once it (the pinterest button) has been clicked. The little number that shows how many times it's been clicked sits directly over the facebook button. I thought it might just be a temporary thing but it's been like this for a while now, and I've had a look on various browsers and the problem persists... I have also de-activated and re-activated all of my sharing buttons, but still no improvement... any ideas how I can fix this?

The theme you are using is designed to display excerpts ie. beginning of post on the front page only. See here please for details http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/fresh-and-clean/ I think you want your visitors to click the post title and read the whole post on its own page, prior to clicking sharing buttons, but if you don't like the design you can choose another theme.
