In my test environment on your page it moves it up. It still looks a little too far down to me, but it definitely moves it up on that page.

I test using the Web Developer addon for firefox. It allows you to "edit" css on a live web page on your browser. It of course cannot change the web page, but it adds your css to it for that browser session. But of course you should be able to get the same effect of course in your css edit.

You cannot add links using CSS only. CSS is just for adjusting the appearance of things that are already on the page. You could add text to the end of the date, but it would be static text and exactly the same for every single case and I don't think that's what you want.

If you compare the classes on the body tag for that link to the ones from the other link, you'll see that one has "singular" in the list and the other doesn't. The "singular" class (or "single" in some themes) is just the way most WordPress themes distinguish single posts.
