Hi. I started using the theme Vigilance a few days ago. My blog looks nice but under each post that I had written is a little word, which is a link, called 'edit'. When I click on it I am taken to the page where I can change things. I see that when I look at the actual blog page. Is that only on my computer when I look at my blog, or can other viewers see that and click on the link? I don't want viewer to go in there and edit my content. I suspect only I can see it. I just want to make sure. Is there a way to remove that if others can see it?

Thanks.

I've written down all your advice. Right now, the defaults are fine. At least what the wordpress software has done is terrific with me. I couldn't improve it even if I knew how. Once this first blogg has taken flight, I plan on learning the nuts and bolts, and I'll feel big enough to take on a widget.
I have to say, I'm overwhelmed with your very kind and generous support. I've struggled for days with my issue, and in seconds you guys cleared my path. And so graciously. When I get some time, I plan to visit your sites. You all are very special.

You were right, my problem was my ignorance. But hey, with your help, here I am all set up, and a week ago I couldn't even spell blogg! Seriously, I do owe you guys. I don't know anything about this computer stuff. In fact, electronics stop working in my presence. Cash registers lock up when I get close, even the tv's shut off when I walk down the electronics aisle at Best Buy.
I know not to get in a tussle with a widget...
But I can answer questions about carpentry and woodworking.
I thought I saw a button to say the issue was resolved, but now can't find it. But, except for my continued ignorance, this issue is resolved. Thanks!
PS would have been back sooner, but my computer kept crashing.

@prewiredunplugged
The Meta Widget is a simple tool that makes it easy to log in and out of your blog and access your dashboard and RSS feeds from your sidebar. Anyone clicking that link will be presented with a log-in and as they do not know your log-in information they cannot log into your blog and access your dashboard.

Its not a security issue, they won't be able to access your dashboard - if they are logged in they will get their own dashboard and if they are not they will be prompted to login.

I always remove the "meta" widget (using dashboard->Appearance->Widgets) because I think it looks silly to have a login showing on your blog for everyone.

I tried another computer. Same thing. If you search prewiredunplugged.com, it goes to the blog, but it also shows the controls to enter dashboard. Perhaps this is a "privacy" issue? I didn't do a thorough reading about privacy, but concluded that I needed to not be private in order for the blog to be accessible. Now I have no privacy. Would like full access that is limited to the blog itself, and not my dashboard, and would like to regain "privacy." Can anyone help?
