Do I have to use other fancy names for colors instead of just the regular color name?

Nope. :) I just like the fancy color names. Here's a list: http://www.w3.org/TR/css3-color/#svg-color

You can use color codes like #FF0000 too, that's the code for red. You can read more about hexadecimal color codes at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Web_colors

There are nifty browser add-ons that will let you use a color picker to click on a web page element or image embedded in a web page and see it's color code. If you want to try one out, try searching for "color picker" with your browser name and you should be able find one. I use this one in Chrome, but there may be a better one: http://eye-dropper.kepi.cz/

Great! I already have that Custom Design upgrade. Thanx so much for your help. I have one more question. I notice you use the word "tomato" for red. Do I have to use other fancy names for colors instead of just the regular color name? And if so, how will I know which fancy name for each color to use? Like for instance green could be "hunter" or "grass," etc. Is there some special list of these fancy color names for CSS, or can I just use regular color names? Thanx again for helping me with this :)

@nefertizahra, sorry I didn't think to mention it! In order to be able to add CSS to a WordPress.com theme, you have to purchase the Custom Design upgrade. You can do that, or use the Preview button to see how it works, by adding the CSS to your WordPress.com Appearance → Custom Design → CSS page.

To change the link colors in the Skeptical theme posts and pages, try this:

a:link, a:visited {
 color: tomato;
}

Adjust the color as necessary.

There are different types of links in that theme too. For example, to change the link color for the sidebar pages or blogroll list, you would use this:

.widget ul li a {
 color: tomato;
}

If you wanted to catch other links, let us know which ones.

HI, because my blog was loading ridiculously slow because of this infinite scroll debacle, I changed themes to Skeptical. But the link color always matches the selected color theme, which does not work for my background because you can't see links.

Thanks. I just wanted to make sure the URL was right. The question about Javascript threw me—you don't need Javascript to format the tags though! :)

I checked out http://blog.brightfox.com.au/ and I see you've gotten the tags formatted more like the ones in the Skeptical theme. Nice work!

To make the arrow look a little smoother/better, find the .post-date::after rule in your custom CSS an make all of the numbers in it match, i.e. set them all to 18px instead of just some of them like you have now. Example:

.post-date::after {
border-bottom: 18px solid transparent;
border-left: 18px solid #333!important;
border-top: 18px solid transparent;
content: " ";
height: 0;
position: absolute;
right: -18px;
top: 0;
width: 0;
}

Have any other questions?

Hi Guys,

Our blog is using the "Funki" Premium wordpress theme. I want to change the layout and styling of the Categories links (which appear under the post title). Currently, they are displayed in a single line. I want to style them in a similar fashion to the links in "Skeptical" theme.

Which is the best way to do this? I am not sure how to add javascript for this theme as i cannot find the theme files anywhere. I tried the suggestions in wordpress help but those url's are not working.

Okay I'm back. I'm starting to get this but I still can't accomplish what I want and maybe I want something that can't be done. I think I want to be able to assign a post to a specific page but it doesn't look as if that is an option. So my next thought was well let's just create Category Pages which run across the top navigation bar so that when a category is hit, all posts that have that category shows up. I can't seem to figure out how to create the category pages. I go to the custom menu and I add categories but they are not showing up in the top navigation bar, which is where I want them to show up. I also tried creating pages and adding those but while they show up in the navigation bar, it isn't bringing up the posts. I'm clearly missing something. Like I said I may be asking for something that cannot be done but just asking in the event I am truly missing something. I appreciate any help that can be offered. Thank you

No you can't add more than one menu and I don't believe you will actually need more that one menu, when you comprehend how they are used and what can be included in them.

Staff have provided help for those who want to structure their blog like a website. > http://en.support.wordpress.com/using-wordpress-to-create-a-website/

What’s critical is:
(1) a clear comprehension of the differences between pages and posts > http://en.support.wordpress.com/post-vs-page/

(2) a clear comprehension of the fact that there is only one dynamic page in a blog for posts and we cannot post to more than that one page, but we can create the appearance that we have posted to more than one page.

We organize our posts by assigning Categories to them. When we publish a post it automatically appears on the running page for posts and also on the Categories pages and Archives pages. Note: There must be one published post in each Category in order for there to be anything to display.

A custom menu allows you to display Categories with drop-downs to sub-categories in tabs along the horizontal navigation where normally only Pages tabs are displayed. If you wish you can also include Pages with drop-downs to sub-pages and/or Custom Links in your custom menu as well. You are in charge of what appears in a custom menu. You choose the order in which to display any and/or all the foregoing in your custom menu. You choose which to display and which to hide. http://en.support.wordpress.com/menus

Also note that if you do not want all the posts to show on the front page, then you can create a static front page for your site, and also create a “blog” page for your posts to display on, but that’s optional.

http://en.support.wordpress.com/pages/

http://en.support.wordpress.com/pages/front-page/

1.You add the Categories you want to display and arrange them in the order you want.

2. Then you add and drop and drag the sub-categories below the appropriate Categories.

3. You add the Pages you want to display and arrange them in the order you want.

4. Then you add and drop and drag the sub-pages (child pages) below the appropriate parent Pages.

5. You add the custom links you want to display and arrange them in the order you want.

6. When you have everything arranged in the menu that you want you save the menu.

7. Go to the “theme location” module at upper left on the menu page. Select your custom menu name from the pull-down labeled “primary location.” Click the save button in that module.

8. Refresh your browser so that it isn’t possibly pulling a cached page, and view your new custom menu with Parent pages and drop-downs to sub-pages, and Categories with drop-downs to subcategories, and Custom Links.

Troubleshooting – My menu isn’t appearing
Go to the custom menu page in the dashboard Appearance > Menus and in the “theme location” module at upper left select your custom menu from the pull-down and then click “save”.

I am VERY new to the whole concept of blogging so this might be a silly question. I tried searching the forum but couldn't find this specific question. I would like to add different links across the top of the header for the Skeptical theme. I believe that is called a Menu but I can't tell how many menus I am allowed. The sample I see on WordPress.com has at least 3 but when I tried to add a menu, it told me the theme only allowed for one. Is there a way to add menus? I tried the Pages approach but that didn't seem to do what I wanted either. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!
