Hi
I have a swf slides presentation and when I upload to wordpress the url its working, ie, I can see all the slides.
However in one slide I have a video in flv format that doesnt play. Any idea how I can play this video in a swf format in wordpress?

This support forum is only for free hosted WordPress.com blogs. The site linked to above is not a free hosted WordPress.com blog and you are posting to the wrong support forum.

WordPress.COM and WordPress.ORG are completely separate and if that's the site you need help with then this is the correct forum for your software http://wordpress.ORG/support/

The "recent articles" section automatically displays your latest three non-sticky posts. The "more articles" section automatically displays a further group of recent posts; the number of posts it displays is set in Settings > Reading (posts-per-page option). Naturally, if you haven't published enough posts, these sections will be empty or under-populated.

Thanks! For some reason, the Featured Images wasn't working for me last night. Decided to work today, I guess.

I do have another question. How can I manage the "Recent Articles" and the "More Articles" section on my home page?

Howdy!

It looks like you've done almost everything -- but you still need to set Featured Images on each of your Sticky posts. Once you do that, you should see the slider appear. :)

Hi,

I know there have been innumerable posts about this problem, but I've followed every single tutorial and it's just not working for me.

This is how I went about doing this:

1. Created 3 posts. Made them all sticky. Gave them all a feature image that I actually copied off the Oxygen Demo site, in order to make sure they were all 750 pixels wide.
2. Created a page called Home. In Page Attributes, I made it the Showcase Page. Created a second page called Posts.
3. Went to Settings>>Reading. Set the front page display to "A static page". I set my Front Page to the page I created called Home. Set Posts page to Post.

This is my problem. I don't see anything on my front page. Literally, there is just a gray box saying "Recent Articles," and under that, another gray box saying "More articles." Not only this, when I go to my "Posts" page, none of my articles have their featured image showing. It's just a gray box, despite the fact that I did upload a image.

I've read basically everything, include timethief's numerous posts on topics like this one. I'm just not getting anything.

My blog is silentattraction.wordpress.com If you could help, please do. I'm getting really frustrated.

I watched a how to video on creating a custom slider using woo slider. I am trying to add slides so that I can create a slider based on the slides the how to video showed them resizing the image inside of the slide window. When i insert the photo, there are no hashmarks where I can resize.. Any ideas?

If you look closely at the address bar of the example you posted, it really isn't the same page, but page 1 and page 2. What doesn't change is the page layout, including comments. That's not something we have available here on WordPress.COM.

You might want to try using Gallery thumbnail images in your WordPress.com post at size="medium" or size="large" in the same post. (I know this isn't' the same as your example.)

I have had a little trouble trying to figure out how to utilize the WordPress Gallery in the way that I want.

I am attempting to have my gallery in a post like this- http://maestroknows.com/2010/12/devlins-update-mf-doom/

Where I could utilize the gallery within my post to switch between images (in this case, slides) and then to remain on that same page when I click the next image like the example I provided above. I was wondering if anyone knew how to do this for a wordpress blog?

thank you, btw I was looking for something more interactive, I have been reading and found I could use flickr slideshows, and after opening my account I have found WP doesn't accept iframe codes... this is really annoying... :S

On the other hand, independent images can be set to open in a new browser window, so one doesn't really leave the main page.

You can also upload and insert independent images as thumbnails, but then there's no way to have navigation back to the thumbnails other than the browser's "back" function.

In my reply to your other thread I gave you the link to the best available info on the gallery feature.

A gallery is just that: an easy-to-upload-and-batch-manage collection of thumbnails. Whether the larger images include a previous/next navigation tab is unfortunately theme-dependent: some themes have it, some don't.

Hi guys, I'm creating something like a site, not really like a blog (don't tell this is specially made for blog construction, cause I want the blog featuring), I have choosen a theme that allows me to create pages, but now I'm looking for a way to create galleries on each page.

yes, I have checked the post about gallery making, but I don't like the way it looks, and it doesn't allow visitors to simply navigate through the gallery using buttons, for first time I was thinking in use html editing and the URL codes to get them appear in big size, without thumbnails, but if you have lot of images, this will be a pain in the..back.

so I have read about a slideshow, but again, I think I will have some problems cause is about piercings, and body modification related stuff, so my site will contain nudity, like genital piercings, etc, and if I go to "rock you" for example, I'm sure they will ask me to erase those "horrible" pictures...

I already have a site, http://www.bodymodification.tk , i have done it using jalbum, but I can't post enough info, just pictures, that's why i like the blog idea, the problem is they asked me to erase the "nude" content...so that's why I'm doing something else...

what I want is so simply, create thumbnails, and get the bigger picture once you click on thumbnails, and something that allows me to click on the big picture to get back on the thumbnails, or at least a link on the bigger image to get back to the thumbnails...

do you know how to do it? and if not, do you know a site to create slides that allows me to upload "nudity"?

Well considering that the URL in your slide code doesn't work, I'd say you have some more work ahead of you. You need to figure out what the correct URL is since it doesn't work even on the slide.com site.

Thank you. Now I'm embarrassed after you pointed out the FAQ (honestly, I don't read the wordpress FAQ that much). However, I don't see wordpress.com blogs listed in the Slides site and a little confused as to why it is mentioned in the FAQ. I'm afraid you must send a feedback for this.
