I'll try the 'shift' enter. Hopefully, that will give me the 'no space' that I'm looking for.

My post doesn't look bad. It just doesn't look the way I want it to look. ;-)

You cannot alter anything "permanently"!
And there's nothing strange in the post you linked to. You have formatted everything as separate paragraphs. When you press enter in the Visual editor, you create a paragraph break (= blank line). When you want a new line with no paragraph break, you press shift enter.

Hello all.

I don't know why it's happening, but I've lost control over how my posts look, in some ways. I notice that when I hit enter, as I'm composing a post, I get a huge (2 space at least) gap between the sentence or whatever above and below. I have a link to a WordPress blogger's (Panos) tips (http://bit.ly/d0pbmM) that I visit when I forget how to get spaces between (usually) images and text or an image and the bottom of post. While I don't understand all of the explanation, and instructions, provided on Panos's site, I have been able to use enough of the info to make spaces that allowed me to control the way my post appears.

I'm wondering whether I've altered something permanently. I have no way of knowing on my own. Here's my latest post, which I would make look differently if I had control over where to place, for example, the line (made by asterisks). I would not have all the spaces between the text and lines, as you see them, equal.

Timethief, is there any "global search/find and replace" sort of function that can be used when composing posts?

There is no filter for that feature that one can use in the Themes Showcase searchbox to locate themes that provide what you want.

There is no way filter for that. I've been here for over 6 years and I can't recall any themes off the top of my head that I can spiel off - sorry.

Thank you timetheif. Is there some way to tell which theme uses which punctuation protocol? Are you certain that some do code for double spaces after periods?

There's no automatic solution I am aware of. What you get will be what the theme is coded to produce unless you continue to code this at the end of every sentence.

I much prefer double spaces after periods. I know that I can force this using the html, but is there any way to keep double spaces after periods when pasting in content from an editor such as word, notepad, etc? In other words, so I don't have to search out every one and add the ?

Not sure what has happened in the past week, but the correct spacing between words has been restored. How strange!

I have tried both Chrome 22 and the latest Safari. Maybe I am just imagining things, but I could have sworn that the text in the drop down menus used to have a larger space between words. I can read the words fine, but I think that's because I made all of the pages.

I have viewed you blog using: Firefox 15.0.1, IE8 and Chrome 22
and I do not see this issue that you report.

Exactly which browser and version of it are you using please?

Something happened in the past 24-48 hours that completely eliminated spaces from showing up in the drop-down menus for my blog using Ever After. Everything was fine earlier this week, but suddenly all the words in the page titles are not separated by spaces. Is this something I messed up? I haven't been changing any settings since last weekend.

It's important to know that Blog editors and wordproccessers are not the same and do not work the same way. The web standard is one blank line only, so you cannot add more blank lines by pressing return repeatedly like you would do with a typewriter or in a word processing application. hi there,

I have a big problem - every time I insert a picture at the end of my blog there is too much space above and below the image, so you can't even see there is an image attached to the blog. I have tried to remove the lines but it doesn't seem to work.

LOVE any advice on this annoying issue !!!!!

Hi, I am trying to add spaces for a poem I have written which has each line starting in a different place. It seems impossible. I've tried it on firefox, on IE and through Microsoft Word directly. Each time loads of my spaces will be taken away. I've noticed a similar thread to this before but have tried everything on that and it still won't work!

Please help!

Deficient edition on my MystyLook blogs. Spaces between passages of texts are removed in edition. Until today I had no troubles in editing with spaces:
