Okay, this is a little complicated...

My blog uses the Quintus theme and has infinite scroll turned off. On the home page, there are two buttons labelled "Older posts": one at the top, and one at the bottom. The one at the top works fine -- if you click it, it will take you to /page/2 of the blog.

The one at the bottom is different. On the non-SSL version of my blog (http://unlikelyexplanations.com), clicking on this button will cause an animated clock-like icon to display (the kind of thing that indicates that something is loading) and then append earlier posts to the same page. That's fine. On the SSL version (https://unlikelyexplanations.com), clicking on the bottom "Older Posts" button will cause the animated icon to display and the button to disappear, but no additional posts will appear (i.e., after the animation stops, the page looks exactly like it did before the button was clicked, except that the button is gone).

I've seen the same behavior on Firefox 20.0, Chrome 26.0.1410.65, and Safari 6.0.4. Before testing, I cleared cache and cookies on Chrome and Safari but not Firefox.

I created a tab for my Facebook page that should take people to my wordpress website but when I click on it, it gives me a 501 error. I have looked everywhere and it seems I need a SSL certificate.

Does someone know if this is correct?

If so, does WordPress have this type of certificate or how can I get one?

Thanks.

Redirected query from here: http://wordpress.org/support/topic/give-an-answer-as-to-whether-self-signed-certificates-are-to-be-supported

Posting to this thread with hopes of getting some kind of response from people.

SSL self signed certificates are currently not supported on Jetpack or the iOS client (the latter used to work but it has been broken for several releases now, bug report was opened some months ago by someone else but at time of writing hasn't had any acknowledgement).

Requests for comment from myself and others have been made on numerous threads and have all gone unanswered.

Could someone give a definitive answer as to whether this is a deliberate choice or a bug? If it's a bug, are there any plans to fix it? The fix should be fairly simple - a config option to disable peer verification would be enough for IOS, but I admit you might need a bit more of a handshake/override for Jetpack.

I appreciate that people are busy, and I really don't want to be a pain, but I've been trying to get a comment from someone - even if that's a "We have no plans to support it, go away" - for ages now and the silence is most frustrating!
