Not all sites have a like button to do this, and even if they did, it would be impossible to tell which ones are the most popular without constantly pestering everyone who is linked to to find out how many likes they've received recently.

In this case there are a lot of homemade rules for playing a tabletop game, and some rules are better-written than others, although which rules are better is a matter of personal taste. So I'd like to not only add my rules but link to others and that way a consensus can be reached as to which is best and what needs improving. I am very surprised to discover that wordpress is incapable of this when even the most basic of its competitors can carry out this simple task.

I'd have to think about that. Liking a link in a post would be like going to the linked site and liking it there, which is what I would do rather than to like a link in someone else's post. But that is me.

Generally suggestions should go in the "ideas" forum. I'll tag this to have it moved over there and hopefully staff will see it and put it on the list. No guarantee they will add this functionality or if they do, when.

My blog will soon contain a list of links to other websites mixed in with links to some of my posts. I would like readers who visit my blog to have the option to click 'like' next to the links that they liked the most so that the articles/websites that impressed them the most stand out. However, I don't want them to be pestered or to be forced to share personal information or for a pop-up window to appear asking them to sign in etc., so I can't use the facebook like button or any of the standard 'like' buttons that are out there. Is there any way of making a button that just registers that it has been clicked once, takes a note of the IP address or something to prevent someone from clicking it loads of times, and doesn't insist on showing the name of the person who clicked it? I would rather avoid setting up a ratings system as I don't want people in a grump to come along and just 1 star everything, hence my preference for a 'like' button.

what a good idea, star gazing, and sending picks to be posted on your blog,i think you should open it up though, start asking people to send in pictures of the night sky,get a bunch of people to go outside, point and shoot, and try to get as many images from around the world as you can,you could even link up to fellow photographers on WordPress and see if they are willing to let you link some existing images they may have,it would be way better than simply googling for starry night pics more of a capture the night sky campaign you can then even give facts, constellations, information under pics you post, and also have content on your blog hope you get this up and running,it such a cool idea !!

OK, I've looked around and cannot find the answer to these two questions.

1. I'm on WordPress.com and I've figure out a way to put web 2.0 links into individual blog posts (e.g. http://sashadichter.wordpress.com/2009/03/03/a-big-week/) However I cannot for the life of me find a way to put a Twitter link into that group. (Also I have to add the HTML manually to each post which seems nuts...any other solutions if I want the icon to link to the original post and not to my blog as a whole?)

2. Is there a way to put a star ranking for each post, like what's here: http://blog.guykawasaki.com/2006/01/the_art_of_intr.html
This is a la Netflix and I think it would be great
