Posts always go on the Post page. Static pages are the opposite of the Post page. They do not update and Posts don't go there. You can simply tell your blog to open on a particular Static page and designate a different place for the Posts to go. Do that under Settings->Reading.

Hey everybody!

I am fairly new to WordPress and am still learning my way around here. I decided to use WordPress as a webpage for my ghostwriting business, so I have several tabs (pages). I want to have a page (other than the home page) for traditional blogs, but I have not found a way to do this. If I click "create post" it seems to post to the home page by default. Any ideas on how to change this?

I have worked out how to get a static home page and a blog page on a separate page, but all my posts still appear at the bottom of the home page and I don't know how to get them off.

Up until my blog was mistakenly suspended, last Thursday, my static page's name was exactly what I wanted it to be: "What It's All About". Since then, it has transformed into the mundane "Home".

Last Thursday was 18 April. Here's a cached page from 14 April:

It shows "Home", so I'm not seeing any change, let alone an arbitrary one.

P.S.

I have altered the menu to a custom menu, but only to get the right details. I still feel some concern for newbies if these kind of changes are happening without warning!

I do indeed, justpi. The menu is arranged by order numbers. I accept that a custom menu could get around the problem, but I'm confused as to how and why the name of the menu tab changed without warning in the first place. Surely that shouldn't happen? Is this some new WP feature or function that I missed being announced? It would seem rather worrying if arbitrary changes can occur without notice simply because a user isn't using a custom menu.

You mean the link in the top menu.
The items on your top menu aren't arranged alphabetically. We cannot tell if you did this by assigning order numbers or by creating a custom menu. If you did it the second way, you can go to Appearance > Menus, and edit the "Home" item to change its label. If you did it the first way, you need to create a custom menu first.

I have two huge problems:
1. When I marked page as “static” and other “post” in reading session it gives the form of static page for the post page. And when I create more pages and try to switch real sheet as first via menu, again, it change the page nominated post page look like static. Also all content disappears from it.
2. I try to make gallery as opening “edit page” mode, then “add media” > Insert media>upload files> drop files/select files. Working area turns blue and last of chosen pictures opening on white empty page. Nothing appears in original webpage witch I´m working with.
I would have three simple pages: a static front page and gallery, static second page and third as post page. What have I done wrong?
My page is tiiamperla.wordpress.com and theme is Mixfolio.

Are you using a Custom Menu? If so, don't.

They do have a couple of test posts so my just make a post is not the answer - but it is the default home page it looks like - so @RC - looks like your idea might be better

Do you have any blog Posts? You can set what page your site opens on under Settings->Reading. If you set the site to open on your blog posts and you only have pages, this is what you see; the solution is to pick another Page or to make some posts.

Just make a new Post of some sort and the message will go away

New Posts are made the same place you deleted the original Hello World Post

I am new at this so forgive the novice question;

I was copying pages to get rid of the comments function and then deleting the old pages. Unfortunately I also deleted whichever page my Home page was tied to and now am getting the "well this is embarrassing" bit. All my other pages are fine.

I think it has something to do with the fact that I chose to tie the home page to static posts but I cant find my way back to that page either...

My 'static page' ie. the Good Work page is pulling in all the content from all other pages consecutively down the page. This is really bad as I use this to send to future employers as an online CV. Please can someone help?

Yes it can be done. Firs create a static page. but the thing you need can't be done with CSS but with Shortcodes: http://en.support.wordpress.com/display-posts-shortcode/ check this link. I did a similar thing with my blog and shortcodes http://crazygoblin.wordpress.com/crazy-goblin-magazine/

I would like to have an area on my static home page [not in a sidebar Widget] where my latest blog posts are shown.

Can a static page be "split up" this way?

Can this be done by using CSS in the Custom Design option?

I cannot get this to stop.

How to I get rid of "Contact us" even though I never typed it? I made made numerous attempts to fix it by discarding the page and re-creating it, emptying the trash to permanently discard the page, emptying the cache, and rebooting the computer, but it still keeps happening. The site is http://floundah2013.wordpress.com/.

This did not happen on the home page.

Please help. Thanks!
