In the future you should really create a new thread, since this one is related, but it's a different issue, otherwise you're really hijacking this thread...

I believe you can make the wordpress address link directly to the static page if you go to Appearance -> Customise -> Front page, and choose the static page you want on the Front page.

Then using the Custom Menus (Appearance -> Menus) you can choose which pages you want to show up and in what order. If you want your posts to go onto the page 'blogs', then you will have to really put them all in one category, and then using the menus 'menu', add a category tab.

You should probably check out the custom menu support page here: en.support.wordpress.com/menus/

You might also want to take a look at Justpi's (Panos) posts about these topics:

Is it possible to have "sticky posts"/ static posts not on the front page? I have been messing around with my blog and have already made a home "Welcome!" page, and a following page with my posts all there. What I'm wondering is if you can make a POST not a page, static, like one that stays at the top of my second page while the others fall after it? Is that possible?

Hello

My Oxygen themed Blog is ready.... need to add some actual posts but that will come with time.

My problem is that my posts won't be added to my Facebook page as they are "Static" and apparently static posts aren't added to Facebook. So Until I move my posts off the slider my Facebook page won't have any posts and then by the time I take them off "static" and are finally posted to my Facebook wall it will be way behind where I actually am.

I'm hoping I'm way off the mark and have done something wrong.

Please help.

I thought that itheme2 allowed for a banner of posts to run across the top of the home page and would show posts that are sticky and that have a feature image. Then, a post page could be chosen that would be sticky and static and serve as the home page. Then no other (unstick) posts would appear on the front page.

What' you describe is that your blog is working correctly. Sticky posts are stuck to the top of the main page of the blog ie. to the running page for posts. There is only one running page for posts in a blog and all other posts appear below the sticky post in reverse chronological order. The only way not to have the posts display on the front page of the blog is to create a static front page and apparently that's what you have done.

Pages are static. They sit outside of the blog structure and you cannot post to multiple pages in any blog. There is only one main page for posts in a blog and all posts will show on the main blog page. There is no way to exclude posts from the main posts (blog) page.

What’s critical is:
(1) a clear comprehension of the differences between pages and posts > http://en.support.wordpress.com/post-vs-page/
(2) a clear comprehension of the fact that there is only one dynamic page in a blog for posts and we cannot post to more than that one page. But we can create the appearance that we have posted to more than one page. We organize posts by assigning categories to them. You can either put the categories widget into the sidebar, or you can create a custom menu and add the categories into the custom menu.

http://en.support.wordpress.com/posts/categories/

http://en.support.wordpress.com/widgets/categories-widget/

http://en.support.wordpress.com/menus/

http://en.support.wordpress.com/menus/#adding-category-pages-to-your-menu

If you do not want all the posts to show on the main page, then you can create a static front page for your site. If you wish, you can also create a “blog” page, but you do not have to if you do not want to.

Choice 1 static front page.
Choice 2 running page for all posts on front page.
It’s one or the other. There are no other choices.
If you choose Choice 1 static front page then you have to create two pages. One for the static front page which you can call anything you choose example “Welcome”, and one for the blog posts to appear on which you can call anything you choose example “Blog”. Adter your do that you go here . Settings > Reading and make the designation change and click “save changes”.

I have chosen a sticky post with feature image to be my homepage so as to have the banner of posts across the top. The problem is that each time I post a new post it also appears on my home page below the static post. I am not sure why. I only want the one sticky post to appear (as well as the banner).

Does that one static post that I have chosen to be the front page need to have its own category?

In Settings>Reading I chose static front page - posts page - News. (Although News is not the name of my static post but seems to be the only choice that isn't a Page).

Any ideas?
