You should be able to set a static front page - the down side is that most visitors and search engines like to see fresh content on the front page -

I'm pretty sure the e-commerce site has few if any subdomains already. I've seen that this can be a factor in passing authority from a domain to a sub-domain.

Just installing WordPress with my hosting.
I have heared conflicting advice on weather to install it on the root or sub directory. i.e. It is more secure if you put as a sub directory but have also read that this is bad for SEO.
Is any of this accurate?

At the moment I am planning to use WP for my whole site but would like at least part of the main page to be static & have the blog posts on a different page. (I may just have the most recent post on the main page.) This may change as I learn more etc.

Any advice would be such a help. I spent last night search the internet & would love a clear answer.
