Hey guys.

So basically I have a main site, and I would like to add another WP blog to it so that when you go to my main site there will also be my /blog linked off it. My reason for doing this is that from what I have read, if i just create a new page on my current site, it is static, and I will be stuck with the same theme on both pages. I want full flexibility as this blog is meant to be different to the main page!

After reading a few things, I created a separate WP account, and exported the files and imported them into my main site, hoping this would allow me to create an editable sub page but I cannot even find the imported site.

I am very new to wordpress and have not been able to find the information I am looking for so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance, I hope this makes sense

Can I alter the arrangement of the page tabs as I wanted it to be? It seems they are automatically arranged in alphabetical order.

Changing the Order of Menu Items and Creating Sub-Menus
At any time, you can change the order and placement of menu items. Drag and drop the items up and down to change the order of menu items. Drag and drop the items left and right (as shown below) to create sub-menu items. http://en.support.wordpress.com/menus/#changing-the-order-of-menu-items-and-creating-sub-menus

Troubleshooting
My pages and/or sub-pages are in the wrong order.
Check the sub-pages themselves to see if you have established a Parent page and child page “hierarchical structure” in the page attributes module. Remove if required. Also remove any “order” numbers you have assigned that may conflict with the order you are creating by dropping and dragging. Or simply change them so they are the same order as you establish in the menu. Establish consistency – problem solved.

I can even see the new page under the parent on my mobile app version of the site but not the desktop version.

I am in the process of setting up my new blog on WordPress, based on one I previously operated on Blogger, due to the large number of additional features I have discovered here.

I want an "About" page with two subpages: one about me, and one about the blog. I have made these pages, and set them to be subpages. However, they don't appear as menu items when I hover over the "About" link.

I read another thread asking a similar question and the poster there was told the menu items did not show up here. However, it works with certain themes.

However, when I visited the demonstration page for "Freshy" (my current theme): http://freshydemo.wordpress.com/, subpages did appear beneath the navigation bar.

Can anyone help me with this? Does anyone know how I can make these subpages appear as menu items on the navigation bar in the "Freshy" theme, as in the demo page for "Freshy".

you can goto the Page editor,

Yeah, that's exactly what it is. I am in fact hosting it through .com, I just bought the domain. My /about page is my static front page; I changed /blog, which I just created as a regular page, into the page with my posts on it.

And thanks for the link! I can't seem to figure out if there's any way at all to remove the widgets, though. I mean on the page you linked it says that the widgets are controlled by the "homepage top right" thing, which I had actually never noticed until now, but it doesn't seem to offer some way to remove that text if there are no widgets in it. Is it possible to do that, or will I just have to suck it up and insert a widget? Even if I add a "text" widget and just don't insert text, I get a weird blank space.

It's just in all it seems like such a busy blog page, what with three columns and an additional header at the top. I guess I'm just confused why I can't hack it down to just two like I can on all of my static pages. It doesn't seem right, since I don't think I've seen everything with my theme married to having three columns in the page used for new posts. It doesn't seem like it's all necessary and I can't imagine it being the standard on WordPress, but at this point if I can't change it I guess I'm stuck with it because my blog is secondary to the rest of the things on the site. It just seems bizarre that on all other pages I can remove columns altogether and use the full width, and here for some reason I'm stuck with three.

So I'm currently using wordpress.com as my website in general, but I wanted to add a blog to it. I have created a "Blog" page, and in the settings I've already changed it so that my home page is a static page and my posts are added to the blog page.

Here's my website:

http://angelnorelation.com

But, check out the blog page:

http://angelnorelation.com/blog/

The formatting is wrong. I assumed that if I added my posts to a different page, they'd come out looking just as if I had added them to the front page. However, here I'm seeing a widget overload. There's a widget on the left sidebar with my categories, which I don't want displayed. The Twitter widget on my right sidebar is not ideal, either. (I'd wanted a sidebar for displaying my tags there, but I haven't even gotten around to that.) And at the top, I have "This is the home page widget area. You can use this space to add an introductory message to your blog with a Text Widget or add any other widget here." Except I neither want a widget there, nor can seem to figure out how to add one, remove one, or change the text on this page. Simply going into Pages > Edit isn't doing the trick.

So does anyone know how I'd fix this?

Thanks in advance!

@ramsey you can only change the title font if you have a CSS upgrade, though you can preview changes via Appearance >

Here's the link to the sticky post re: slideshows

You can only insert one slideshow per post, at the moment.

(1) I don't know the answer and don't have time to search the support documentation for you. here's the link to it http://en.support.wordpress.com/slideshows/ I also see a slideshow sticky post at the head of the forum you may wish to check out.

(3) I do know the answer. Very few of themes here display a sub-page dropdown menu for child pages. If you don't have a theme that provides this then you must use the Pages widget to provide accessibility as we cannot access let alone edit the templates that underlie the themes. http://en.support.wordpress.com/widgets/pages-widget/

I'm fairly sure that questions one and three aren't CSS issues so I can't offer much help with those but to change the page title font try something like this:

.page-head h2 {font-size:1.6em; font-family:verdana;}

1. Can you tell me how to create multiple slideshows within one page? (if I can)

2. Can you tell me how to make the 'page title' font smaller on the page and if I can use an alternative font for the 'page title'?

3. If I create a new page and assign it a parent page the sub-page does not show up in my blog, why is this, how do I make the page show up?

Thanks so much for your constructive help.

Splitting might be workable but isn't ideal--I want to use the "subposts" a bit like footnotes or appendices, but kept separate from the actual post. Maybe splitting the page so it has an appendix section would partially do it, though.
