That's the way the theme is designed: you can't hide the subpage links except if you have the Custom Design upgrade.
Very few themes display links to subpages this way, so you can simply select a different theme.

How can I hide subpages to appear on a page (not on a menu)?

I don't want subpages to appear nor to be accessed anyway except through the links in the text as you can see on my page when you scroll down and click on 4noggins.

Hello all. I'm having a problem I have never had before.

Semi-annually I move all the subpages under my HOME/Current page to an archive, under a "new" parent page (Issue 5, Issue 6, etc.).

Then I build a new "Issue," consisting of new subpages, under "Current" (which is my HOME page).

This is not working today. The old subpages are all staying on the Current/HOME page, even though they are assigned to a new parent page (Issue 6, under PAST). The new subpages I am creating are not appearing under "Current." In fact, they don't seem to be going anywhere at all.

Any assistance or insight would be much appreciated. Thank you!

Hey, so i'm new in the wordpress world, and i'm having a trouble like this: This page http://2yoonbr.wordpress.com/galeria/lives-backstage/ has 4 groups of galeries, but IMO it's too much data on just one page, and i wanted do divide this galeries into subpages, with the links in the bottom like 1,2,3 etc... (ex: http://4youbrazil.com/home/?page_id=3835&nggpage=2) but i cant find how to do it. So, can anyone help me? thanks

Yes, only published pages show up as potential parents in the Parent pulldown.

Hmm. Problem solved, although I don't know what made the difference.
Sometime within the last 5 hrs., the option appeared again.

I admit to nOOb-status in here, and want to understand if I caused this myself. So I was thinking: I have worked with a number of draft pages, and only 5 hrs. ago did I actually publish any of it (and then only the front page). Was that it? You can't hook draft pages up in a parent/child-relationship?

What exactly did you try? You seem to have only one published page (the one you set as your front). There can be no parent option before you create additional pages.

I have the same problem as the one outlined in this thread: http://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/the-parent-option-has-disappeared?replies=7. So far none of the suggested actions have resolved the issue, and sticking it out to see if the parent option should appear by itself again has also got me nowhere

I wrote support, but haven't received any response yet. Could this please be flagged for staff attention?

Good evening fellow WP geeks,

at first i'd like to say how much i love WP! I never had any big problems while creating a custom theme because the documentation is just fabulous. Now doing my, as it feels, 100th Custom Theme i am having a small issue though where i might just be overthinking.

I am trying to create an Image Portfolio Page where i display the Image Thumbnail of the subpages on the left side, and when i click on a thumbnail i want the bigger Image, which i post in the content area of the subpage, to appear on the right side. Its kind of a 2-column layout.

The Pages are structured like this:

Portfolio (Page where i want to display everything i discribed above)
- Project 1 (has an Article Thumbnail and a big Image in its Content Area)
- Project 2 (has an Article Thumbnail and a big Image in its Content Area)

Now my idea was doing this with get_page_children, but i kind of dont know where to start and how to display the big image to the right of the thumbnail as soon as i click on it.

If someone could give me some Code Examples i would really apprectiate it!

For those who still dont know what i mean, here an illustration:

Create a Mexico category and assign it to all the relevant posts.

Create and assign sub-categories that are more specific to each post. in the Mexico category.

When you do that then when the posts are published the software will automatically display them on the dynamic Category and sub-categories pages.

I have a travel blog and have a page for "Destinations" with subpage of let's say "Mexico". How do I set it up so that if someone clicks that subpage, all posts that I've written related to Mexico (tagged or categorized or how ever I do it) show up? And can I take that post and assign it multiple subpages? ie, a hotel review of Cancun hotel that I want to show up under bother Mexico subpage and Hotel Review page.

Use a custom menu. Publish your (hidden) pages but don't add them to your menu.

Hi everyone,

I'm a newbie here and I don't exactly know how to name the thing I'm aiming at.

Let's say that I'm writing a post about myself. I'm putting there a piece of information about my 20 fave albums of all time and I would like to link the line "20 albums of all time" to a separate page within WordPress.

The simplest way to do so is to create a page or a post and leave them as drafts so that they are not published, but when I put a direct link to the draft it will show on the page.

Is there any other possibility to create such "subpages" (not child pages) and store them in WordPress but not in draft form?

I know I'm being pretty dumb here, but I hope some of you will understand what I mean.

A tab that’s just a heading for a submenu, not a link, is created in the Custom Links module: type anything after “http://”, type the name in the Label field, click Add to Menu; once it’s added to the menu, click the arrow to open it, delete everything in the URL field, click Save Menu.
Note: In some theme this produces a differently looking tab; in that case replace the content of the URL field with a # instead of deleting everything.

You make those all Posts, and you make "Service" a category. Then you use a custom menu to put a link to the Service category in your header.

I don't know how best to describe this, so I'll try it this way. I have the following pages:

Services
- Service 1
- Service 2
- Service 3
- Service 4

Each of these five pages is a unique page in my Dashboard, and the 4 services all have "Services" as the parent page. When you go to my blog, you can hover over "Services" and a dropdown menu appears for the four services underneath.

Here's my question: how do I make it so that someone can hover over "Services" but NOT have it be a clickable link? I don't want anything on the "Services" page - I don't even want it to be a page. I just want it to be the category under which users can access the pages that drop down.

Is this possible?

If you have created a custom menu and then later add more Pages and subpages then you will have to go here > Appearance > Menu and add them.

Troubleshooting
Check the sub-pages themselves to see if you have established a Parent page and child page “hierarchical structure” in the page attributes module. http://en.support.wordpress.com/pages/page-attributes/ Remove if required. Also remove any “order” numbers you have assigned that may conflict with the order you are creating by dropping and dragging. Or simply change them so they are the same order as you establish in the custom menu. Establish consistency – problem solved.
