To do a newsletter, you would probably want to sign up at one of the sites that specialize in that.

Hey folks,
I have 849 comment subscriptions on my WordPress subscribe page. When I decide to unsubscribe to a post which I connected to months ago, I can't find it. OR if I want to unsubscribe to a whole bunch of posts from the same site, I can't.

So, could you build:
(1) A search function so I could find a particular site I subscribed to
(2) An ability to do a bulk action on all those sites found by the search I set up.

Just a thought.
I LOVE WordPress

As long as you sign up with the same email attached to your WordPress.com account, I don't think it will matter whether you're logged out or not, since subscriptions are tied to a unique email address, rather than a WP.com username. Does that make sense?

So essentially you're saying is that the subscription *is* an email subscription, but I cannot edit delivery settings.

That's right. Currently, you can't edit delivery settings for Jetpack sites like you can for WordPress.com sites.

If updates follow my default delivery settings, then I won't receive updates by email since my default Reader setting is "no email delivery".

I've confirmed that there isn't a way to override default "no email delivery" settings to receive emails from Jetpack sites. I will bring this to our developers' attention.

One workaround could be to subscribe for email updates on Jetpack sites using a different email address. Some email services such as Gmail allow you to create forwarders "on the fly" by adding a dot or plus sign after the first part of your address, which will deliver mail to you normally but be treated as a unique email in our database.

So for example, if your email were [email redacted] - you could enter [email redacted] or [email redacted] in the subscriptions box and you should then receive updates by email. I realize this is an extra step and apologize for the inconvenience.

If updates follow my default delivery settings, then I won't receive updates by email since my default Reader setting is "no email delivery".

I bring this up because I do have a couple of other "Blogs I Follow" that are self-hosted. There, too, I cannot edit the delivery settings. No updates are sent by email; I can only read them in my Reader.

While there isn't a way with Jetpack sites to toggle between seeing posts in the Reader and getting email updates when you sign up to receive emails initially, you should start getting emails beginning with their next blog post.

I also signed up for email notifications myself in the same way you did, and I'll look out for their next update.

Let's stay in touch here to make sure we both receive email updates as expected.

macmanx - hi - It seems to be working now, here are the steps I took:

Before trying Chrome I thought I'd try this using Firefox in private browsing mode. So in that, I went to petspeopleandlife.wordpress.com and clicking the 'Follow' button in the admin bar gave me the tooltip that I was following and would see posts in my reader, but the 'Follow' link didn't change to 'Following'. I then went to the Reader's edit page and this time it did appear. I then logged out of my WordPress.com account and out of private browsing mode. Logged back in, not in p.b.mode and blog still showing on Reader's edit page, but still not showing as 'followed' in admin strip on the blog itself.

I then closed the browser window and cleared cache/cookies and logged back in - not in pb.mode - and blog still in edit list. Back to her blog and it now shows that I'm following.

So, I don't know what happened there. Any ideas?

Just to be sure, though, I downloaded Chrome and it works in that too, both in normal log in and in p.b.mode (Incognito).

I'd like your opinion on what could have happened so that I can avoid it in future.

Ah, and there's another person with this same issue, on this thread: http://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/cant-follow-blogs?replies=4#post-1163862

One other thing, which I find a bit odd, on the home page the image in my current post http://artyoldbird.com/2013/02/25/mountains-are-sort-of-slanty-sided/ appears in Firefox but not in Chrome. Yet the other pics in other posts are fine. I've put a screenshot of the two windows, tiled horizontally, on a page in my blog, here: http://artyoldbird.com/chrome-view-vs-firefox-view-temp-page/

It'll be under the same menu that you open a new window from, which varies depending on your operating system. :)

An incognito window automatically disables extensions and caches, and flushes cookies when you close it. It's pretty handy for troubleshooting. If it works, then we definitely know something in the browser is causing trouble.
