Hi,
I want to give my readers access to two eLearning modules that I created. One was made using Articulate and the other with Captivate, both authoring software. Here’s a list of the file types, which allow the modules to run:

swf
html
htm
css
xml
js

I know WP.com does not support these files, so I’m looking for advice. I want to continue using WP.com to build my site, but maybe link to my eLearning modules hosted/stored somewhere else, and not spend a ton of money. Some of the questions I’ve considering:

1. If I upgrade with WP.com, will these files be supported?
2. Can I host or store somewhere else and then link from WP to my modules?
3. If #2 is the way to go, can anyone recommend a hosting site besides Go Daddy?
4. Any other suggestions?

Thanks in advance and any advice would be greatly appreciated.

thank you, thank you, thank you! and i am sorry if i came across as bossy with regards to needing answers right away. the reason i asked about the selling is because i have created what may be the worlds very first editable stationery and i wanted to post some samples of it and a button that would link to my two stores.

The reason that was and has always been rejected here is the insecurity it introduces to users on a shared blogging platform. Flash and javascript can introduce huge vulnerabilities. But if you have the Space and Videopress upgrades, you can upload them and display them as videopress videos.

I think wordpress should allow you to upload to the blogs flash files (.swf) because with flash players people could share their creations.
I am saying this because i want to upload a flash file in my blog, so people interact with it, but i can't. Please reply this as soon as possible.

Hi
I have a swf slides presentation and when I upload to wordpress the url its working, ie, I can see all the slides.
However in one slide I have a video in flv format that doesnt play. Any idea how I can play this video in a swf format in wordpress?

Hello!

I'm trying to embed a video from this page into my my blog, http://www.mohammadshouman.com.

The "embed" code that webpage provides me is:

When I insert that into the source code of my blog post and click "Publish," the blog post doesn't show the video embedded; it's as though I never entered any code! (Though in the "Preview" view, I can see an "SWF" placeholder, but it disappears once I publish the post.)

Flash files can be inserted, if they are hosted somewhere online.

No multimedia file can be directly uploaded and displayed. WP accepts uploading PPT files, but cannot display them directly in a post, it can only display a link to the file. To actually display such a file in a post, you'd have to upload it to Scribd or Issuu first.

Flash is unsafe and presents serious security vulnerabilities, therefore .swf files cannot be used here.

I have some sample e-learning pieces that are processed as .swf files. They're interactive so I intend that viewers will interact with the files too.

I would like to embed these files in my WP pages. So far, I can't see how WP will accept files in the .swf format.

For the PDFs if you want to embed the document itself, you will have to use a third party application like Scribd or Google Docs. Otherwise, the documents will appear as a download link.

HTML Tab is missing. Hi, I just signed up for an wordpress.com account and I am unable to embed pdfs and swf files. With research I found that I needed the insert/edit embedding tool. However this tool is not in my tool box and I have expanded the menu.

I have also checked under my user name etc., for anything that would inhibit it. I don't see any html writing box to be "ticked" or "unticked"

It is not a browser problem. I checked it in both Safari and Firefox.

It is not a widget problem because I haven't installed or added anything. I haven't even posted anything!!!! This is a brand new account.

It doesn't work because embed codes aren't allowed, for security reasons. You need to convert the main part of the code into a gigya shortcode. This is what you need to paste in the text widget:

However, this does not seem to work, so I've tried other words of the day, they do not appear to work as well.

Am I doing something wrong?

Also, I've tried to screen options>enable accessibility mode.
