Using the simple Twenty Twelve theme and the Tag Cloud widget, Visibility "Show" if: set to "Page, All Static Pages" works fine, but I can't seem to get "Page, Posts Page" to display a cloud on the home page which is where the recent Posts appear. Is there a combination of visibility command selections to get it displayed on the first displayed page, or is this just not possible?

The font sizes for the tag cloud are set programmatically according to how many tagged posts for each tag exist in the blog. You can update the overall font size, however, that would defeat the purpose of the tag cloud by making all of the links the same size. Here is an example:

.wp_widget_tag_cloud a {
	font-size: 12pt !important;
}

Note that if the blog is new, the fonts may all look really small because not enough posts are tagged yet. The font size for the tags used more often will get bigger and start to stand out automatically—which is the purpose of the tag cloud widget.

In comparison, the category cloud widget has additional settings for "Minimum font percentage" and "Maximum font percentage" which give you a bit more control over the look if using a category cloud instead of a tag cloud interests them.

Can somebody answer why the tag cloud is limited to 45 items? If the reason is aesthetic, then why not let blog owners be the judge of that ourselves.

I can see good reasons why somebody might want to limit their tag cloud to a smaller number than 45. I can also see that a static home page made of a large tag cloud numbering over 45 tags might be a beautiful and non-linear approach to a reading experience. In my blog -- Sly Uses: Having my way with Ulysses, some of my favorite topics (quadrature of the circle, holy mother public relations inc., retrospective arrangement, symmetry) would only surface if I had more than 50 tags. I can't imagine a reason why my readers would type any of these words phrases into a search on their own, so these topics stay buried unless I artificially inflate them, demoting others.

In searching support and forums, I cannot find why the tag cloud limit should exist.

We need the ability to customize the tag cloud. I want the option to display more tags. Also, the option to choose which of the lower frequency tags get displayed: so far this is chronological according to when the tag was created. I would prefer reverse chronological so the more recent ones will appear. Even alphabetical so we could have some way of tweaking what shows up. Currently "quadrature of the circle" tagged in nine posts shows up on my site, but "holy mother public relations inc." does not. I could easily rename "quadrature of the circle" to "squaring the circle" which would bump it back in line behind "holy mother public relations inc." But I have no way now of controlling when I first created the tag. Best case scenario, give me the option to have 50 or 60 or a full page of tags if I like. Why stifle creativity with a restriction that makes no sense beyond aesthetic?

The Tag Cloud in the side bar hasn’t pick up any of the new tags from the most recent post.

These tags are new subjects not common to previous posts and should be featured as the smallest text in the cloud.

All of the previous posts are expressed in the cloud including those tags that are expressed for the first time as a small font.

What does work:

Tag Cloud: Common subjects found in multiple posts are shown as larger text.

Tags: The tags from the all the posts, including the most recent, are shown at the bottom in their respective post.

Thanks
