I would like to create another wordpress site but the name is already taken. After looking the wordpress site up i saw it was created on april 2012 and there isn't any been posted since that date. Is het possible to get that name please ? Cabalina.wordpress.com

1. if you really want a URL not currently in use, send the owner a message. I know communication might seem a little revolutionary, but if the blogger is interested in helping you, they might respond.

2. register a URL that is unique to you, like the rest of us did.

I'd like to know why WordPress.com and other blog providers don't renew old urls?

I want to change my blog URL and name. I tried once and it was successful, but when I searched again, the URL was actually taken by someone else. How do I know if the URL is already taken? Will wordpress notify me or do I have to find out for myself?

Also, when I wanted to change my username, it wouldn't let me. I clicked the "change" button right next to the "public username" and itjust re-directed me back to the same page. I tried this several times but it wouldn't work. I'm new- I just started yesterday. Someone please help?

My username on WordPress is candian5757. I have 2 blogs. canadian5757.wordpress.com and jonpavelich.com. I am trying to change my username from canadian5757 to jonpavelich. Unfortunately, the blog jonpavelich.wordpress.com is already taken (by me). How can I change my username to jonpavelich and still have jonpavelich.wordpress.com?

Think about it: you have a blog for a while then delete it for personal reasons. We let someone else take over the name. A year later you get an angry phone call from a friend or relative who has clicked on an old bookmark, reads something offensive, and thinks the blog still belongs to you. Deleted blogs stay deleted precisely to prevent that from happening.

It's possible that one day we will recycle blog names that have been registered but never used (particularly those stockpiled by squatters and spammers). But we will not recycle blog names that have previously had content. Absolutely not. That's the answer you'll get if you contact support. No exceptions. Don't bother asking unless you want a personalized "no".

If you contact the owner of a blog and they agree to hand it over to you, that's fine - but it's none of our business. Support staff won't get involved, and we won't (can't) un-delete blogs just so you can do that.

The next best thing you can do is Contact staff & see what they have to say.

My statement only proves that I suspected there was no way. I was hoping that I would be wrong and someone would have some other ideas.

Other online programs that I've joined have procedures for deleting inactive accounts. One that I use sends me an email message if I haven't used it for awhile saying your free account will expire if you don't log in... you can keep the account open without logging in if you pay a fee. Computer does this, not a person, so there's no time involved once it's set up. It's a good way to keep free accounts from being abused.

Yes, Deaf View/Image Art is a perfectly good name. I may consider that. And yes, I don't want to get myself into a tizzy. Just think there should be other options than just "that's the way we do it here."

But, if the name is taken and you can't contact the blogger, then pick something else. No point in getting yourself into a tizzy.

I understand wordpress's desire to not recycle blogs, and it makes sense. But they should have access to the name/email addy of the person who opened the blog and can pass that on to legitimate requests.

So how can I find the person and get the name from them? No, I don't want to change it a little bit, the name really means something.
