I'm new to wordpress and intending to move my existing website over to here. I've downloaded the full frame theme (though I haven't yet purchased the upgrades which allow customisation and transferring my domain name across as my renewal on the old isn't due till end of June and I wanted to get as much of the new site done as possible before I go live. I want a featured image (headshot) on my homepage with the text allignment on the left (this is something I also can't figure out how to do!) but at the moment there's a big white text box obscuring the lower half of the picture. How can I make this lower so it doesn't cover any of the image, or even get rid of it all together. I would really appreciate someone's help. Is there any easy way to do this or is it using CSS? I'm familiar with the concept of it but no idea how to use it.

i'm a newbie that purchased Linen Premium theme for my blog. I liked the look (and guess, falsely assumed that I could create something like it).

So far:
I figured out how to insert blog title.
I inserted an uploaded image, sized it and left justified it

Problem: how do I enter text to the right of the image. Could I create a textbox to be filled with text? I'm familiar with Publisher and thought that creating a blog would be a similar process.

Secondly, I'm not seeing the purpose of purchasing a premium blog because there seems to be no preset content that can be modified.

Advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

Do you mean you want the content area background to be white? Try adding this to your Appearance → Custom Design → CSS editor:

#content {
	background: #fff;
}
.sticky {
	background: #eee;
}

Note that I made the ".sticky" ones light gray to make them stand out. If you don't use sticky posts, you probably don't need that rule.

You will also probably want to adjust the colors a little more. Try doing that with the color palette options on your Appearance → Custom Design → Colors page. See this help page to learn how the color palettes work: http://en.support.wordpress.com/custom-design/custom-colors/

First, you don't need a p tag and a div tag and a font color tag: you put everything in the style of one tag (in this case a p tag, since the text is one paragraph). Second, to add space above the text, you add a top margin (or padding). In all:
