I also can't seem to find the right URL for the RSS feed as I haven't used it before. I have tried the various site URL/feed combinations but it refuses to work.

Could someone please advise how I can find, or what is the URL for my RSS feed? I think once I can figure that out, I know how to hyperlink.

Thankfully Hubby is in IT. :) There was stray line of code in one of the images that was changing all of the text boxes. Just in case it happens to someone else, the piece of code was: Once I deleted it, all of the grey bars/lines disappeared! So relieved.

1- That is perfectly normal. Each theme comes with a default set of widgets. Drag and drop ALL widgets that you need into the sidebar and everything will be fine:
