I know this has been posted on here a bunch of time but all of those threads are closed for responses, but basically my problem is the time zone on the site stats is about 16 hours behind. I tried to correct this in setting by going to "General" and then changing the time and then changing it back as other have suggested but that hasn't worked at all. Also I noticed that the bar graph is totally gone and the only way I can see the number of views is if I put the cursor on the exact right spot and a little box floats next to it. Please help! Thanks in advance. :)

The cities are listed in the Settings → General → Timezone option. They are organized by continent. Please pick the city closest to you.

Correct, UTC timezones do not account for summertime. If you select a city instead of a UTC timezone, then summertime will be calculated.

The cities are listed in the Settings → General → Timezone option. They are organized by continent. Please pick the city closest to you.

For the titles issue, mattiyza's update has been deployed and I tested and can see titles working properly at http://kijkbuisgeneratie.wordpress.com/ now. Thanks mattyza! :)

My sincerest apologies for the delay with this styling issue. Thank you for your patience in this regard.

Please note that we are working on isolating this title issue. The styling that was removed was due to a user-reported bug where the titles weren't displaying at all.

I'll be committing a fix for this to resolve the issue you've noted, which will be deployed to your website as soon as it has been reviewed.

Sorry I don't understand. Do you mean it does not calculate summertime? So in the summer I need to change my timezone manually? And in wintertime set it back to the right one? I can't choose city's, only UTC time zones, or did I miss something?

By the way, the whole UTC thing is new to me, we use GMT here.

Setting UTC+1 won't account for daylight savings. Can you please try selecting the closest city to you in the time zone setting instead and then let me know if you continue to have trouble with new posts you create after you have changed that setting?

Thanks for your reply. About the timezones; I live in UTC+1, so that's the timezone I set my blog in. But now I see in the settings this timezone is one hour early (Now its 20:26 here, but in the settings it displays as 19:26).

I could just change it to a time-zone I don't live in (UTC+2), but that would be a bit of a weird way to fix the problem right?

So, the time-zones are set wrong. Don't know why, but I'd like to have it fixed. Thanks!

When I schedule a blogpost, it does NOT publicize. Yesterday, I thought I
did something wrong, but today it happens again.
I scheduled a post for 13:00h (1:00pm), it's now 13:40h (1:40pm) and it's
still scheduled. I guess you did something to the timezones as well?

Is this problem still happening for you? If so, I can do some additional tests on my side to try to trigger the problem. If I can come up with steps to reproduce the problem (or maybe if we can catch it happening on your blog again) that will help us track down what is happening.

Please see my responses below:

1. Post titles styling.

We are currently working on isolating this, as the post titles disappeared from one or two customers' blogs. We apologise for any inconvenience caused here and are currently working to resolve this.

2. Scheduling of posts.

This is not handled or modified by the theme in any way and would best be discussed with WordPress.com technical support in the appropriate support forum.

3. Changes to the theme.

Yes, themes on WordPress.com are maintained by their appropriate theme author and updates to the theme, when made by the theme author and after having been reviewed by the WordPress.com theme team, are deployed all all websites running said theme after review.

If you'd prefer not to have this functionality, I'd recommend hosting your website on a WordPress.org self-hosted solution.

If you'd prefer to have more control over your CSS and be able to change any CSS updates that are made, you could purchase the "Custom Design" upgrade for WordPress.com to adjust the CSS to your liking, should changes be made that you don't agree with.

I hope this clarifies things somewhat. :)

After you asked me on twitter to mail you with my problems, now you've mailed me to post my problems here. So I'll just copy/paste the emails we've sent.

me April 19th:
today I noticed the blogpost titles appear all messed up in Bold News Theme. boldnewsdemo.wordpress.com
Where the titles used to be on the side of the prefered image, they are now cut off and displayed partially underneath the blogpost image.
WHY? It looks stupid and this is not what I bought.

I searched the support docs and the official wordpress.com blog for you and found the answer:
Set Your Blog’s Timezone by City

Once you’ve set your timezone this way, you won’t need to change it again to account for Daylight Saving Time. WordPress.com will automatically update your blog’s time settings as needed.

I live in Sweden, and the last night we changed the clock, putting it 1 hour forward. It´s summertime. All my post are scheduled, and I realized that WordPress works according to our old times. I had to change the timezone to get everything published at the right time. Now my site is registered at the same time zone as in Moscow instead of Stockholm. Is it really true that WordPress do not changes time automatically according to the time? Do I have to be registered under the wrong time zone (or schedule my post to appear 1 hour earlier just to make them appear at proper time?)?

Time changes are not retroactive. Edit the Post(s) with the problem and in the box with the "Publish" button there is the ability to edit the time for a Post. Remember to save the changes.

Ok, so I asked a question earlier about changing timezones, and someone answered it which was gloriously fantastic. However, even after changing my timezone, I now have a new problem because it says that a post that was posting UTC time is still on UTC time. I changed the timezone after posting the post, so is there any way to change to timezone to EST for that specific post, or do I just have to live with it being completely out of order?

Hi --

I'm trying to wrap up a migration from MovableType to WordPress.com and have just noticed that all of the publish dates are offset.

For example, one post was originally published in Movable Type published April 16, 2009 at 6:07 pacific time. However when looking at the imported post in WordPress.com, the date reads Apr 16, 2009 @ 2:07.

The migration is happening by dumping the MT posts into a WordPress XML import file. I looked at the WordPress XML file to confirm that the date and time were exported correctly:

I also checked my WordPress.com Settings > General > Timezone and confirmed that it is set to UTC-8 (San Francisco time).

Any suggestions on how to debug this further?

I would just like to be clarified on this one thing: When scheduling a post to be published on a future time, what timezone will be followed, the UTC (Coordinated Universal Time) or the local time set by the blog owner?

I have seen my General Settings and both the UTC and local times are present.

It seems that this has been recently changed in Russia. We will keep this in mind for future updates. For now you can change the time zone in 'Settings' -> 'General' on your Dashboard, and set it to UTC+3.

I've noticed that the time zone for my city is wrong, and that is because Russia doesn't have 'Daylight Savings Time' anymore. So we're still an hour ahead, that the blog time shows. Please let me know if that could be fixed. I would very much appreciate it.

My blog posts have a timestamp that is 3 hours later than the time zone I am in. I would like to change this, since people (family) are asking me why I've been posting so late. Is there /any/ way to do this or am I stuck with a timestamp that's 3 hours ahead of Atlantic Standard Time?

If you pick a city in your timezone instead of just the UTC offset, it will take daylight saving time into account (as long as that city observes DST).
