Hi .. My 10 year old NZ ISP provider.. has finally explained to me.. exactly WHY they heve never been able to get my fully paid NZ Top Level Domain Name .. aimed into my wordpress blogsite .. even though they have been ripping me off at a hugely expensive monthly renewal rate .. ever since November 2002 when I registered my NZ Domain Name.

Apparently -- (as I was told today) .. they have never allowed any domain holder to have their Domain Name "aimed" into any C Record... sub-domain blogsite..

And .. they (Xtra.co.nz & Telecom.co.nz) don't even offer the option of a hosted LANDING PAGE -- which has always meant .. that my NZ Top Level Domain Name .. http://www.quix.co.nz .. has done & thus always will do ..
NOTHING.!!!!
It simply goes off the radar & dissappears when searched.. instead of "aiming" into WordPress... (where I currently run some 19 blogsites) ..
All I need -- is the exact IP "A" record... for: http://quixdotcodotnz.wordpress.com

As sadly -- my quoting the URL is NOT sufficient for them... They (Xtra.co.nz & Telecom.co.nz) "specifically" need the A record - as a fixed IP address

Using the original Oxygen CSS causes the 2-column grid with images to shuffle, shift, resize, move on mouse hover. This is slightly annoying because it creates unwanted movement of images.

Changing this style rule from the original:

.widget-grid-view-image a {
display: block;
margin: 0 2px 4px 0;
}

To this adjusted rule:
.widget-grid-view-image a {
display: block;
margin: 0 2px 2px 0;
}
Fixes the unwanted image shuffling.

I would have no need to purchase the Custom package other than to fix this little annoyance. I'm hoping this can be corrected in the original style sheet.

Thanks,
Daniel

Sorry, I should have mentioned the requirements for that example to work. I tested that code on a blog using the Ari theme with one custom menu created and setup as the "primary navigation" on the Appearance → Menus page. I didn't account for there being widgets below the navigation on the left in my first example, so I updated it a little:

#page {
	padding: 0;
}
#main {
	margin-top: 162px;
}
#masthead {
	width: 1020px;
	background: #fff;
	height: 95px;
	padding: 20px 0;
	margin: 0;
}
a.sd-button > span {
	opacity: 1;
}
.slideshow-window {
	z-index: -1;
}
.main-navigation {
	width: 1020px;
	background: #fff;
	display: block;
	position: absolute;
	height: 28px;
	border-bottom: 1px dotted #4C4C4C;
	z-index: 9;
	margin-top: -20px;
}
.main-navigation li {
	float: left;
	padding-left: 20px;
	border-bottom: none;
}
.main-navigation ul ul {
	left: 0;
	top: 29px;
}
.main-navigation ul ul a {
	padding-left: 0;
	margin-top: -2px;
}

Note that other custom CSS you add may also affect this CSS and so this example may not work as a straight copy/paste for you. If you have any trouble testing it, try removing your previous custom CSS as a test and make sure you have setup a custom menu as described in the requirements above.

It's a bit of a tricky request. As I said, it's possible, but not simple.

Hi designsimply, thanks loads for looking into this for me.

Unfortunately, when I try the solution to Q1, it runs the text in the left sidebar along the middle of the post, rather than above it. Maybe what I'm looking to do just isn't possible? was previously using Wu Wei which ran the Home page and About page along the top above the posts, but switched to Ari as I wanted the sidebars.

Howeverrrr! Just tried your solution to Q2 and that did work so I'll have a play about with it.

Sure it is. :) Try this:

.single .entry-title {

}

Adjust the number as necessary. Note that this affects just individual posts, to make it work on the home page too, remove ".single" from the beginning.

1/ I'm using the Ari theme and would like to add an About page. I can see how to add it to the primary or right sidebar, but is it possible to add it along the top... more like a traditional navigation bar?

Switching navigation from the sidebar to the top of a blog is possible, but it's not a simple task. I've worked on it and I came up with a starting point for you. It makes the header and navigation full-width and rearranges the navigation for the Ari theme so it's horizontal. Note that there is probably more than one way to do this and you may need to make additional adjustments as you go, especially if you make other CSS changes that affect the ones here:

#page {
	padding: 0;
}
#main {
	margin-top: 12em;
}
#subsidiary {
	width: 1020px;
	background: #fff;
	height: 95px;
	padding-top: 20px;
	z-index: 9;
}
.main-navigation {
	width: 1020px;
	background: #fff;
	display: block;
	position: absolute;
	height: 28px;
	border-bottom: 1px dotted #4C4C4C;
	z-index: 9;
}
.main-navigation li {
	float: left;
	padding-left: 20px;
	border-bottom: none;
}
.main-navigation ul ul {
	left: 0;
	top: 29px;
}
.main-navigation ul ul a {
	padding-left: 0;
	margin-top: -2px;
}

Notes: If you have too many menu items, they will fall over to another line and look weird. Stick to a top level that fits on one line. Also, I only tested one level deep for submenus, but the rest should be okay.

This (most of it) has to do with the design of the facebook likebox and that is controlled by facebook. If you add the following to your custom CSS, it will fix things. It specifically targets the likebox widget. The -15px seems about right, but you can adjust it if you wish.

#facebook-likebox-3 {
margin-bottom: -15px;
}

And also do you know what heading tag corresponds to the Twitter Widget? I had this for widget title, which was applied to my first 2 widgets:

.widget-title {<br />
color:#444444;<br />
font-size:18px;<br />
font-weight:bold;<br />
}

But it doesnt seem to apply to the Twitter widget. Or is it possible to just remove the Twitter Widget title completely? If I leave the title blank on the widget settings, it just uses "Twitter Updates" as defualt.

Thanks so much in advance.

My apologies. This is the site I'm talking about. As you can see - a gap between the Facebook and Twitter widgets as FB is in the primary, Twitter is in the secondary.

Also - I am not sure what stripped the Twitter widget styling, can you guide me into fixing it up? The bullet is not aligned with the other bullets in Archives.

Thanks for the help so far!

This is irrelevant to the Share, but how do you change how far separated your primary and secondary widget areas are?

The share this text can be changed at settings > sharing toward the bottom.

For the space inbetween the text and the buttons, add this to your CSS and you can adjust the right padding to suit your needs. The buttons will float depending on the text you choose for the "share this." It would not have floated before.
