Since I generally log-in through the forums, it's not been an issue for me yet, but it will be if that blue bar we see in on the WordPress.com homepage becomes the default Admin bar for the entire site.

As many of us have multiple sites, just the idea of having to navigate every time to the WordPress.com homepage first to get to our various dashboards makes me nauseous. In any event, it's all speculation until we see it live (surprise!).

I strongly dislike the fact that accessing the dashboard has become MUCH more complicated. I have to click on my avatar, then on manage my blogs, then finally on the dashboard to arrive there: 3 clicks.

In the old view, it was only one click and you would arrive directly at the dashboard.

I hope someone is reading this and will think for him- or herself and see that this new change isn´t practical at all.

My solution: I've bookmarked my dashboards and I've added them to the bookmarks bar of my browsers. This way I have one-click access and I never have to worry where WP put things this month.

Indeed! After about 5 minutes, I accidently found the admin bar (it popped up when I went looking through the support pages. Annoying to say the least. After multiple attempts I'm still not sure how i'm supposed to go about locating it.

The only way I can get to my dashboard is to go to help and then I find what I use to see and then can go to my dashboard. Please fix this or explain from the new layout how we are suppose to get to the dashboard.

I was afraid of this and I have already posted my thoughts on the new Admin bar in this thread I started.

I seriously hope that the blue Admin bar doesn't become the "norm" for the rest of the WordPress.com site.

Things on the forums move quickly here so that your post may move off the front page of the forums. Regardless, you can get to any post you started or participated in by clicking on your username at the top of the forums, where it says "Welcome, (yourusername)". I posted a thread here about 6 hours ago and have found it has gone missing. I tried searching by its title and by my username on the Forum Search box but nothing came up. What I wrote was very on-topic and polite (or so I think :) ) so I don't think it can be categorized as spam. Any ideas on how I can get my thread back?

What I wrote about went roughly like this:

I found that the top bar (don't know exactly what it's called, but it's the one with my blog name, gravatar, WordPress logo, etc) has changed from black to blue. It turns back to the black one when I enter someone else's blog or click on a link but it is blue when I first enter WordPress. I prefer the black top bar as I can go directly to my Dashboard by hovering over my blog name. I do not know how to get to my Dashboard now. How can I get my black bar back or how I can I go directly to my Dashboard with my blue bar?

Thanks in advance to anyone who replies to both questions!

Hi, I would like help with the top bar. I noticed today that the top bar (I don't know exactly what it's called, but it's the bar with my blog name, WordPress logo, etc) has changed. It is no longer black but blue.

On this new top bar, there is a comment sign, my gravatar, and the WordPress logo.

The reason I do not like this change is because I can no longer go to my Dashboard directly. I used to be able to hover over my blog name and then click 'Dashboard' but now I don't know how to get to my Dashboard.

This blue bar appears when I'm on a main page. When I click on someone else's blog, one of the links at the bottom, or my own blog, the black bar reappears.

How should I change the top bar back to its original black form? Or is there a way to go directly to the Dashboard of my blog without having to click on links?

This causes the whole area to "disappear". It removed the menu as well.

i need to be able to change the top colored titled bar. The "header image" option only adds an image BELOW this colored bar.

I need to be able to either:
--make this title bar disappear completely (not just hid the title and subtitle text).
or
-- make the title bar alot thinner so it's only a small decorative line.
or
-- insert a custom graphic into that that area (not below it)

Can someone point me in the right direction?

That makes sense; I just checked, and they are all the same again. (I did check the 'documentation' but couldn't track down what I needed...sometimes, just knowing what things are called is Very Helpful. For now, I'm muddling through okay...I think.)

That could be because Staff is working on the Admin bar. Do you have any other issues you need help with?

That is the Admin bar, which appears to all logged-in WP.com users. You can't control what shows up there.

On the bar at the top of the page are things like 'follow'. How do I add to or remove what appears there? (Theme=monochrome in case that is relevant.)

<font face=verdana size=4>I guess this is a simple problem that needs solving. I just can't get my top bar to display my profile image I uploaded from Gavatar. It just displays the shape of a man in white with the grey background.. I have searched on Google and all but still sees no hope. I am using Google Chrome(browser) in Ubuntu(OS).

I've linked up WordPress to my Gavatar account. When in dashboard, after selecting User > My Profile, I do see my current avatar. Ive also been to Settings > Dicussions and did all necessities but still no hope.</font>

A custom menu can display any link - including a dropdown list of posts. See here:

But raincoaster's point is that a very long dropdown list of posts isn't practical.

There is, as far as I know, no way to do that as a hover. Presumably, you'd soon have far too many posts for that to work.

There is no way for the Recent Posts widget to change as you suggest.
