Now, the page is blank, and I can't get any chosen word to show a list of posts. It has been like this for several weeks. My blog is janetgranger.wordpress.com , and the template I am using is Mistylook, if that makes any difference!

Yes, but it may take some time for it to appear. Also note that if the post has been assigned a category or tag that's among the most popular ones then the display of posts under popular tags is randomized. As there are over 32 million randomization of posts is due to how many posts are published under those most popular categories/tags every minute of the day.

Look at the very last line in the editor box under any post or page and you will find it.

The flow of traffic from the global tags pages to my blogs has never ever been sigificant and at best is negligible. It's Google that sends traffic to blogs. Search spiders are focused on keywords found in content. Tags are not required for SEO purposes and Matt Cutts of Google makes that clear Revisiting Keywords and Tags

I have never seen so many pages on a blog. In fact your use of the site is not the customary way blogs are set up at all. Here is the way to hide pages and subpages. However, do note that your entire site relies on Pages and if you pull your Pages widget out of your sidebar then there will be no links to either pages or sub-pages that your readers can use to navigate. http://faq.wordpress.com/2007/07/01/i-have-too-many-pages-at-the-top-of-my-blog/
