My blog is smallideasbigchanges.wordpress.com in which I had around 163 email followers since yesterday morning. Yesterday in the afternoon, I added a new category in my blog and saved it, as soon as I saved, the widget showed that I have only 6 email followers instead of the original 163 email followers I had for months. Can you add those email followers back to my same blog smallideasbigchanges.wordpress.com

Hi @timethief!
Thanks for the very helpful information. Maybe it's because my brain is tired, but after I read the blog post I still have a question about this portion:

"Subscribers, both WordPress.com users and those who have subscribed by email, will still show up on your Subscribers stats page. However, in spite of any misleading dashboard messages, like the one below that appears after you publish a new post, new posts are not sent out to your previous subscriber list. The only people who will be able to subscribe to your private site are the people you’ve invited to view it."

Does this mean if I had 3 email subscribers before going private, and 2 more email subscribers AFTER going private (for a total of 5 subscribers), that only the 2 that have recently subscribed will be notified -- the other three will not?

I recently changed my blog to private, so only users I approve can have access to it. But now I am realizing that there seems to be a difference from approving *followers* and approving *viewers*.

Basically I want to know who gets notified when I post something new. Anyone with approval? Only followers, not viewers?

Also, where can I see a list of those who are following or viewing? I approved two people today but can't find them under WordPress or Email Followers, nor are they listed under Users.

Thank you for any help you can offer! I like having a private blog, but I'd like to know if the people I care about actually know when I post something new!
