I created this blog and transfered it to the owner. He would now like to delete it. I have his login informations, and have tried deleting it, but I do not receive the confirmation e-mail - and neither does he.

The profile that I originally used to create the blog (and transfered it from) is still seen as a user on the blog with the prefix "deletedaccount".

For now I have made the blog private, but I would like to delete it entirely. How to? :-)

If the only reason you are moving is to monetize a blog and use plugins then I'm afraid you will be sad to find out that most bloggers, who move to self hosting with high expectations for making income discover that after their expenses are paid at the end of the year they make only pocket change. Been there - done that.

Hey everyone, I've never posted in these forums before so sorry if I do something wrong. :)

Anyway, I'm wondering about something. I'm thinking of making my website a .com and hosting it on Hostgator, which I will use to download WordPress.org.

But is there any way to sort of install WordPress on my current wordpress.com blog, and have it hosted on Hostgator? Or will I have to transfer it to the downloaded wordpress.org thingy? Sorry if I can't word it correctly...

I've built up some traffic and SEO on my current blog, and I don't want to lose it -- will I if I transfer the blog to WordPress.org downloaded from Hostgator?

Thanks!

Transferring content amounts to creating an export file and importing it.

1. Log into the old blog, go to Tools → Export, and download the XML (WXR) file to your computer.
2. In the new blog, go to Tools → Import → WordPress, and upload the file you downloaded in step 1. After you upload the file, you can choose the option to Download & import file attachments if you want to move your media files.

Likes are on individual posts and followers follow specific blogs by their URLs. If you move content to another blog with another URL then I'm not clear if likes and the followers can be transferred so I have flagged this thread for a Staff response.

Can somebody please explain to me the difference between wordpress.org and wordpress.com.

I did read the WordPress article on this subject but I'm still confused. I need it explained in SIMPLE terms LOL! I guess I'm a little brain dead today because I just can't get it!

My client has a wordpress.com site - which is free - she has not upgraded. Now she is thinking of upgrading and we are trying to figure out what the difference is and what happens when she upgrades.....does everything from her current blog transfer and stay the same or does she have to redo everything??

Thanks in advance for your collective help :-)
