There is no FTP access and we cannot install plugins because this is a multiuser blogging platform ie. our blogs are not free standing and there are security issues that would arise if that access were allowed. Google translation widgets are Javascript and it's stripped out to preserve security on this mutiuser blogging platform. http://en.support.wordpress.com/code/

I think so too, I'm Greek actually and I know people who have difficulty in understand English and thus don't read my blog.
I also believe that the button should just lead to a human translation rather than one made by the computer.

Are there any human translators on this particular forum? because all I have seen tonight is links being given out to the different language forums.

A translate button still could help other users just so we can see what they are asking and if it will help us in anyway.

I think it is a fair suggestion.

Machine translation if inferior to the translation available from human translators. WordPress.com is richly blessed with human translators and has several support forums in languages other than English. When somebody posts a problem that needs resolving but it is in a different language could it be possible to have a translate button next to the post so admin or moderators or other commentors can assist with their issues?

This may save on space of having to have so many different forums and also the comments they write in other languages just might be of help to people of other languages too.

Thank you. Yes, that's javascript and it won't work here at all. There IS a workaround, though.

i think it will not work with you , it's javascript code .

but if you want to translate your blog into English you can use :

http://www.translate.google.com/

enter your blog URL there and get the translated page URL then paste it to a text widget in your side bar .

It doesn't support javascript, but it does support plain HTML code. Without SEEING the code, we can't offer suggestions.

I just tested it on my own blog and the code dissapeared. WordPress.com doesn't support some code.

I write my blog in Dutch. My question is if it is possible to put a button on itt (maybe google tranlate button)to translate the words in English, so the people can click on this button for a translation in English.

where can I put the HTML text, so the translate button is visible on my blog.
