If this then were to be mistaken as depression, and they were then given anti-depressants which act to increase Dopamine levels, then the pills could make the person feel worse. I may be wrong but that could answer a lot of questions over here lol!

I hated it so much I sometimes felt suicidal. I drank like a fish and my (as then undiagnosed) Bi-Polar symptoms were through the roof.
Now, I have a little place of my own, just me and my cat, my BP is controlled with meds and I feel as if I've sailed into a safe harbour after years of navigating through every 'Perfect Storm' imaginable. Like Dovesgold, I prefer plants, and books and animals.

Me too but I was the eldest in a very large family and due to our circumstatnces I was forced to function as an ambivert for may years. Finally when I left my parent's howm I could be the introvert that I am. If you haven't read Quiet by Susan Cain I recommend it above all other books on introversion.

Introverts are people who are over-sensitive to Dopamine, so too much external stimulation overdoses and exhausts them. Conversely, Extroverts can’t get enough Dopamine, and they require Adrenaline for their brains to create it. Sadly, as we are a minority we have been raised to conform to expectations of others. What a loss to society the perverse notions that we must all be super social have led to. As I said in the post we’re living in a culture that increasingly values groupthink, despite the fact collaboration kills creativity.
