I am trying to import all my data from my tumblr blog to my new WordPress one. I have had the tumblr account for many years so there is a fair bit of data, mainly photographic. I have worked out how to start the transfer. I just have a few questions on it, if anyone has the answers, that would be great;

When all the data is transferred to WordPress will it be in the same date order as it is on Tumblr?

Will it erase of data on my Tumblr site?

Is there a way to redirect traffic from Tumblr to the new WordPress account?

Will all images be pulled over ok?

Basically: WordPress.com is a home for original content. It is not an aggregator. If you want that, you want something like Friendfeed.

I believe that's reference to the fcat that WordPress.com is a blogging platform that supports original content blogging. It is not an aggregation pl;platform and does not provide any splogging tools. If a blogger does not create original content on their free hosted WordPress.com blog and does nothing but fill the blog with reblogged posts the ToS Staff can suspend or delete the blog.

I understood your point that reblogging leads to duplicating (but how is that possible? reblogging is sharing the link of the original post and it redirects to the original post always) and it has issues with page ranking in search engines!

But what does it mean that

And if this reblogging thing really have so much issues, why wordpress, tumblr and other sites give that option?

Reblogging is permitted as long as you also have original content. There are a number of tools, the "Press this" scriptlet that can be dropped into a bookmarks bar button is very simple but basic, the rest I have not tried

Obviously I'm talking about reblogging! Why i will post someone else's post? :P
Since reblogging is not possible for other than wordpress blog, is there any way i can share the tumblr or blogger posts?

In wordpress blog, you can easily share the post in other platforms, i'm talking about the opposite. share in wordpress from other platforms.

I'm not asking anything against the terms and conditions. i'm simply asking for reblogging. If that's against terms and condition, then nothing to do...

It is against the T&Cs to automate this process. It is also not permitted if the content does not belong to you and is not in the public domain.

If you want to write about a blog post, etc. copy and paste the parts you are interested in. Its also good practice to link back to the original so that your readers can see the full context.

Hello, WordPress forum,

I hope someone out there is able to help.

I am helping a friend move from a Tumblr account to Blogger (long story!, but a WordPress blog is not an option ...)

Since there is no direct Tumblr-Blogger migration tool, I was advised to import to WordPress first, then export, convert to XML file to blogger format and import to Blogger.

I did all of the above: while all original Tumblr posts showed up fine in WordPress, most of these post images are now gone in Blogger.
Instead the post will just display the word [gallery], but there is no photo :(

Please Help - is there any way to migrate the existing photos from the WordPress posts to Blogger (instead of re-psoting photos of some 500+ posts!)

Looking for a plugin or widget that allows you to cross post a WP blog entry to any number of different tumblr blogs based on the category for that particular post.
Don't want all WP posts to be sent to one tumblr blog (as seems to be usual), but by clicking a button or ticking an option will allow you to choose which tumblr blog to post it on for each individual post on creation. Does anything exist that can accommodate this request at this time?

I absolutely love wordpress and run my tech blog on it (thetechculture.com) but I'd like to move my personal blog to tumblr. The blog domain is alexandersawyer.wordpress.com and the domain I'd like to move is alexandersawyer.com but I'm not sure what the best way to do that is. I looked around on my domain manager but I keep running into the wall. Any help or guides I'm missing? Thanks!

I find that that the hosted version works fine for me when using a Gallery image. However when using using a.com blog it doesn't post at all! Im pretty sure it's a bug, but haven't had any other responses.

Experiencing the same issue. (It is a hosted blog not a wp.com blog) When I mark the WordPress post format as "image" the post does not show up on Tumblr. WordPress posts that are "Standard" format do appear on Tumblr. The problem I'm finding is that when the post is viewed in Tumblrs main feed as opposed to directly on your Tumblr blog, the post shows as a block quote and images are turned into a clickable grey box that expands to show the image once clicked.

I've noticed that since switching my blog to wordpress I've lost tons of Tumblr followers. I would like to get the "follow" button/control for Tumblr back in the right hand corner of my website for my followers whenever they enter the site like it did when my site was a tumblr.
