Hi again macmanx,

Another huge thank you from me! I've managed to change the wordpress address and this hasn't affected the domain name, so all good news.

Perhaps it's just me that finds this process over-complicated, but could I suggest to the WordPress.com team that they change the process so that when registering a domain name for a new blog the underlying wordpress address is not automatically chosen but could be nominated by the domain purchaser? This would prompt the person purchasing the domain to think about their underlying wordpress address, which they'll use if they ever decide not to renew their domain name, and would prevent having to change the blog address and delete the original blog (with all the anxiety of the risk of accidentally deleting/disrupting the new domain name when deleting a blog!) at a later stage.

Let me know if I need to post this somewhere else to have it seen as a suggestion.

Thanks again,
Kate

Hi macmanx,

Amazing - thanks so much for your help and for sorting this out for me - it's strange, though, as I didn't have any existing blogs with an address anything like nickyellisdotcom - I only had katetalkstravel.wordpress.com, which is entirely un-related and which I haven't touched for months.

As an additional question, and really a huge favour, is it possible to further change the wordpress address that sits under the nickyellis.org domain name? It's occurred to me, rather too late, I'm afraid, that it would be most useful to have a really usable wordpress name sitting underneath the .org domain, and if possible I would change it to nickyellisosteopath.wordpress.com, as this was the address I was going to use before realising there was a nickyellis domain name available (nickyellis.wordpress.com itself is not available). It seems that this might be possible, and so if you're able to tell me how I'd really appreciate it - this is the first time I've experimented with a domain name and it's a steep learning curve!

With many thanks, again,
Kate

Hi all,

I'd appreciate help with two blogs that seem to have been created when I registered a single domain name.

I have just registered nickyellis.org as a domain name, creating this as a new blog. Now in 'my blogs' there are two blogs showing with the WordPress names nickyellisdotorg.wordpress.com and nickyellisdotorg1.wordpress.com

I can see that the nickyellisdotorg1.wordpress.com address is associated with the nickyellis.org domain I've registered - does this mean I can delete the second blog that's been created - nickyellisdotorg.wordpress.com ?

Additionally, and rather irritatingly, the WordPress address associated with my new domain is the nickyellisdotorg1.wordpress.com address, which, should I choose not to renew the domain name next year, is the more complicated one to use. Is it possible to change the WordPress address sitting under my domain name?

Many thanks in advance,
Kate

When people are on the other blog, can they see I also have sludgebelly?

It's probably a dumb Q but a search on WordPress or Google doesn't turn up the answer. I plan to move a Google+ blog I run for a social group over to WordPress, it's important to me to keep them in the dark about sludgebelly.

I have been blogging at http://pnwduckpond.com (a wordpress.com blog) for the past year or so. My focus has shifted, so I am planning to "reimagine" myself and my blog and focus on the topics that have been driving the most traffic to my site. I have already created another wordpress blog (www.fabricalchemist.wordpress.com) where I want to continue.

After looking through the forums, it looks like using the Site Redirect upgrade for http://pnwduckpond.com is my best option. I just had a couple questions about what to expect from that process.

So this moves all of my content, subscribers, to the new blog (Fabric Alchemist), so going forward I would enter the Fabric Alchemist dashboard to create new content?

Do I need to do anything other than purchase the site redirect upgrade?

My big final question is:
The site redirect appears to be an annual renewal cost, if after a year I have trained enough people to visit Fabric Alchemist rather than PNW DuckPond, can I delete the old blog address and cancel site redirect? Or will this remove content from Fabric Alchemist?

Thanks.

I have two blogs with completely different topics. http://www.gbartlover.com and http://www.cookingcellastyle.com. The art blog went from 89 to 624 followers the day I posted the cooking blog, and the cooking blog is still at 4 followers and hasn't changed in weeks, which I know is wrong! Why are my followers all showing up on the other blog? Please help so I can show my sponsors that I have a following!

Thanks, I had the first part down to a science, but the second, it's what I figured - the username and email account being the same.
So, as it is now, seapunk2 is the admin for both blogs, but both blogs won't show up in my followers Reader, is that correct?

Your username can only be linked to one blog ie. your primary blog. Here’s how to link your username to your blog in your blog Dashboard -> Users -> Personal Settings -> then scroll down to Account Details. Then scroll down to where it says ‘Primary Blog‘ select the URL for your primary wordpress.com blog and then save changes. Thereafter every time you sign into the forum we can all click on your username and your blog will be linked to it. And every time you leave a comment on a blog your username can be likewise clicked and your blog can be instantly located.

When we register a username account here the email address we provide becomes our unique identifier. When we are logged into WordPress.com and register a blog it's registered to that username account we are logged in under and to the email address which is our unique identifier. We can register as many blogs as we wish and provided we are using the same username account then all the blogs will be registered under it and the associated email account. We can change our "display name" but that display name will appear on all blogs registered under the same username account.
http://en.support.wordpress.com/email-address/
http://en.support.wordpress.com/change-your-username/#change-display-name-nickname

In order to completely separate the blogs that you do not want to be associated with each other you register another username account using a different email address when you are logged out of WordPress.com. http://en.support.wordpress.com/register-a-blog/ Then you add the new username account as an official user of the blog, and designate them (ie. you) as an Admin. Next you transfer one of the blogs to the new username account using this process. http://en.support.wordpress.com/moving-a-blog/#transferring-your-blog-to-another-user-or-account

I just started adding content to my second blog and when I'm attempting to comment while signed in to the second one, the http://seapunk2.wordpress.com always defaults.
I'd like to create a niche blog on my art and writing, as my original blog getting crowded. Is this because use the same email address for both?
What can I do?
