As you noted above, There must be a real blog and not just pseudo posts designed to drive traffic to third party sites. The only exceptions to the no affiliate links policy are found here in italics:

Affiliate marketing blogs: Blogs with the primary purpose of driving traffic to affiliate programs and get-rich-quick schemes (“Make six figures from home!!”, “20 easy steps to top profits!!”, etc). This includes multi-level marketing (MLM) blogs and pyramid schemes. To be clear, people writing their own original book, movie or game reviews and linking them to Amazon, or people linking to their own products on Etsy do NOT fall into this category. Here is a thread in the support forums that talks more about which affiliate links are OK or not OK. http://en.wordpress.com/types-of-blogs/

Hello,
I know that this is a long letter, but please hear me out. I am a new blogger, and I have a concern I'd like to make known before I begin setting up my blog. I have reviewed several forums and reviewed ToS to the best of my ability within wordpress regarding selling products and adding affiliate links. I do not want to come under the radar of violating the ToS or other conditions, so before I start anything, I want to make sure that I am following the rules.
I am an artist and trying to become an author. I am currently in the works of writing a book, and ultimately plan on uploading it to the publishing website Lulu.com. From there, the information will be sent out to Amazon.com. I also have a deviantART account where I already have several prints ready.
My goal is to form a central hub of information about myself and how to find my art and works. I also plan to use wordpress as a blog to display the art and show snippets of my book to engage readers and buyers. From what I've read, bloggers are allowed to sell their products if they are the creator. Also adding an affiliate link to Amazon is allowed.
My question is this: am I allowed to add links to my book on Amazon.com and/or Lulu.com, and links to my art on deviantART, since I am the creator--even though they are not being bought from the blog directly? I do plan to use my blog for its intended purpose as well, by posting pictures of my art and snippets of my book.

Advertising outside of WordAds at WordPress.com, http://wordads.co/ including affiliate links, is not allowed. For full details, please see:
The only exceptions are in italics:

I am a published author on the Amazon affiliate program, trying to link my books from my blog so that readers can buy them. This seems impossible. From what I can understand, I should fall into the 'permissible' category because I have a 'real' blog and I am the creator of the books being sold on Amazon. I am not permitted to sell my books direct so this seems like the best way to go for me. Please advise! Regards, Lucy Courtenay (www.phraseandfable.wordpress.com)

This is probably a dumb question, since the Advertising page does say not to do ads for third-party sites, but I am still not sure I am actually running ads. I am a participant in the Amazon Associates program, which allows me to link to products I like through a specific code. If people buy the items, I would make a small commission. I would be linking to those products on Amazon anyway because I really have found them so helpful -- so I figured it would be nice to get a referral fee for sales from them. Just today, I saw the support docs on WordPress saying we may not advertise. I am fine with that, but I guess I just wanted to be very sure there isn't something I'm missing before I change the code in the links. Thanks!
