I am having trouble blogging on my iPad. It lets me type for a while, but then stops allowing me to type. I can still delete though. Very strange. Help would be appreciated, I want to kick start my blog again! Thanks.

The Visual editor produces italics if you have selected Address from the format tool (row 2 tool 1). Make sure you select Paragraph.

I should also mention that I am working in the Visual editing format as opposed to HTML. Unfortunately, your solution did not work for the Visual side of things. I checked for unclosed/improper tags and found none. I can work in the HTML, which is usually less buggy anyway, but I'm willing to pursue any other suggestions offered. Thanks again.

Probably you have an unclosed tag somewhere on your blog.

Under Settings->Writing, have you selected "Wordpress should correct invalidly nested XHTML"? If not, do so. Then edit your last post and see if that fixes the problem.

Hello. Why does my WordPress editor keep forcing me to write in italics every time I start typing? I would like to stop this if possible, as I have to keep going back and de-italicizing (if you will) each line. Thank you for your time.

These are 3 ways to change fonts on WordPress.com blogs.

(1) Changing font families, colors and size in text in posts or pages either post by post or page by page by coding into the HTML editor. http://en.support.wordpress.com/editors/font-size-color/

(2) Changing font colors in text in posts or pages either post by post or page by page using the #4 icon (Select text color – change the text color) in Row 2 the Visual editor. http://en.support.wordpress.com/visual-editor/#row-2

(3) Changing all font families, colors and sizes throughout the whole blog by purchasing an annually renewable Custom Design upgrade and using Typekit Fonts with Staff support. http://en.support.wordpress.com/custom-design/
Note: Any font changes to font families, colors and size in the blog title, tagline, post titles, page titles, categories and tags cannot be done without CSS editing.

P.S. I am a visually challenged person who cannot fathom why you have made the font on your blog so large. I think you probably don't know that all of us can change the font size of any site we visit on the internet very easily by using keyboard shortcuts to increase or decrease font (text) size.

Of course you can change font size and colours, but first, you need to read something very important to your site:

So first: go to your Settings->Writing and select "Wordpress should correct invalidly nested XHTML" and then go back and edit those posts (this activates the correction), because that's what you have: invalidly nested XHTML.

My green letters turned to black when I swapped the position of a couple of paragraphs, when I attempted to change the colour back while in the edit mode, I couldn't find any link to change colours for the letters from black, green etc.

Why can 't we change the colours in our edit mode on wordpress while we are editing, and can we change the font size while we are editing on wordpress????

Can anyone help????

i've tried clearing cache etc with no luck.

i'm using a Three dongle to access net here (as i usually do)

What is the URL of the site you are talking about?

Have you tried logging out, clearing your browser cache and cookies, restarting your browser and then trying?

What browser and browser version are you using and have you tried a different browser to see if it is related only to the browser you are using?

Has anyone come across this?

I'm trying to write a new post but i cant see what i've written because the font is white on white (i can only see it when i block select it). The usual menu above the editing box, with fonts. font colour, bold etc doesn't appear - or only appears for a second or two when i leave the page.

I've been successfully adding posts on same laptop and same set-up for many months so cant understand whats changed.

I've tried contacting support (a few days ago) with no response.

Thinking of quitting wordpress.

Which browser and version of it are you using?

You could have a browser issue so try changing your browser settings, refreshing the page, or clearing the browser cache and cookies - instructions for specific browsers.
Note that when you make adjustments to your browser settings -- changing privacy settings, deleting cookies or increasing security -- you will need to close your window and restart the browser before those new settings become effective.
You could try upgrading your browser.
You could try using another browser.

Greetings all,

Over the past week, I've noticed a problem when typing a post. While I'm typing, I'll get some lag and end up losing a few letters as the post catches up. More commonly, I have a noticeable wait when hitting delete or backspace to correct an error. This has happened on two different computers.

Is there an issue with the wordpress.com software? Or would it be at my end? I have never had this problem before. It is happening in both my blogs ediblenoir.wordpress.com and adashofnoir.wordpress.com.

Interesting additional piece of information, it isn't happening as I post *here* in this forum. I just tested it.

Anyone else having this problem?

If you have a Hindi keyboard just type. Alternatively edit using your normal word processor or something like the google transliterate page

You're welcome, and yes, IE8 is kind of schizophrenic. Hopefully IE9 or IE 25 will be better, although who knows with Microsoft?

It is IE8 that is the issue. while on the editor page, activate compatibility view in your browser.

I believe there's an "Accessibility mode" or something in IE. Try selecting that under your preferences and see if that makes a difference.

Sounds very odd if you are using IE8 and Windows XP.

Even though its not a solution, what I would do is just go to the bottom right corner of the textarea where you write your post and just stretch it out long enough so you wont have to worry about it.
