I did manage to fix it last night and forgot to close my question. For whatever reason puttign the cursor at the top of the first paragraph and hitting delete a few times got rid of the spacing issues throughout. No idea why, but it worked.

Every theme has a default sidebar display that does not contain actual widgets. Go here and select and install widgets of your choice to override that default display > Appearance > Widgets

Troubleshooting – My Pages aren’t appearing
They must be public pages – not private.
Public – The page will be visible to everyone.
Protected – The page is protected with a password you set. Only people who have the password can view a protected page.
Private – Pages are only visible to blog Editors and Administrators. Private pages are not visible in Blog Surfer, feeds, or in any search. A page can be private without being password protected.

If you created a custom menu go to the custom menu page in the dashboard Apearance > Menus and in the “theme location” module at upper left select your custom menu from the pulldown and then click “save”.

There is too much space between some and not enough between others. It doesn't show up that way until I publish. Then the spacing is all over the place. I've looked on two different computers- one Mac with Safari, and a PC with Windows 7 and the problem is the same on both. I have tried deleting cookies and caches, but that's not the problem. (Also, I didn't cut and paste from somewhere else. I wrote directly on the blog).

Your header size cannot be changed directly, but it can be change via CSS with a Custom Design upgrade.

That will left align the image without text wrap and since you are using no text with them, that adds some extra space below the image.

Open the top text widget at appearance > widget and set it to align none instead of align left and see if that gets you where you want to be.

Add this to the CSS edit window and then adjust the 2.2em value as desired.

}

Also, do not paste the entire stylesheet into the CSS edit window. That can really mess things up. You want to put into the CSS edit window only the specific selectors and the specific declarations that you are adding or changing and then your additions will override the original stylesheet.

I'm helping someone with a wordpress.com site and when I got to settings>reading it goes to "Blog posts to show at most." Instead of the section "front page displays..." where I would be able to select "static."

Can someone tell me why I don't have the option to send this I usually work in wordpress.org, but I have a wordpress.com site (bwbacon.wordpress.com) where the I still have the static page option...
