In addition, I tried to add the Facebook button on the sidebar of my blog and must have added an incorrect link. Every since I have a box that appears that says: "Could not retrieve id for the specified page. Please verify correct href was passed in." Also under the box is just blank space although I have added several more widgets to the sidebar. How can I get rid of the box and resolve this matter? Your help is very much appreciated!

There has to be a root blog you domain map from and there has to be a domain you map to. When the domain name change has propagated throughout the internet visitors will see only the domain URLs. You on the admin side of your blog will see the root .wordpress.com com blog URLs. That's normal like I explained in my example using my own blog in the other thread.
