I have already purchased domain registration. Now, however, I would like to purchase the Value Bundle. The option to purchase this is not showing up in my shop. Am I able to purchase the bundle before the domain registration upgrade expires?

Most likely what you are going to have to do to advertise is to self-host a wordpress.ORG installation on a third-party hosting service such as bluehost, dreamhost, etc. You will have to install and configure the worpdress.ORG software there and then transfer all of your content over to the new installation. Figure an average monthly cost, all things considered, of about $10 to $25. Few bloggers I know that advertise cover their yearly expenses.

With self-hosting comes additional responsibilities. You will have to do all installations, all upgrades, all backups and all troubleshooting. If something goes wrong, such as installing a plugin or theme that kills your site, you have to figure it out and fix it.

WordPress has made self-hosting a site much easier than it used to be, but there are still times when you need a pretty high level of "geek" when things go wrong. Either that or you have to hire someone to fix the problem for you.

In general, no.

Same Rules Apply – The Domain Mapping Upgrade [part of the value bundle] does not enable the permission to use advertising, any kind of prohibited code, or upload additional themes or plugins. With the upgrade, your blog will still be hosted here at WordPress.com, which means that you will not have FTP access to your files and you will still be required abide by our Terms of Service.

User advertising is, except for a couple very narrow exceptions, not allowed on wordpress.COM. For the exceptions, see the last sentence under "Affiliate marketing blogs" in the bottom set of bullet points in the "types of blogs" support document.

There will be a new WordAd feature coming in the first part of 2012 for qualified sites here. It does not allow you to pick or place your own ads though.

Didn't realize that linking a few quick fashion finds on my blog to another site that I own would get me locked down from being able to post. Will the WordPress Value Bundle upgrade allow me to use text hyperlinks to "advertise"? Not sure which route to take or what to do next to not only get my posting privileges reinstated, but also be allowed to utilize my blog like I would like to.

Registering a domain through WordPress.com and mapping that domain to your blog costs $17.00 per domain, per year. For $8.00 more, you can also make the domain registration private. Mapping a domain you already own costs $12.00 per domain, per year.

You can't add external themes to a WP.com blog at all. The value bundle doesn't change that; it allows you to tweak existing themes, provided you know how to do CSS editing.

If you want your own domain name, that's I believe $25 a year for the domain name and mapping it to your blog.

Maybe you misunderstood me. I already have a wordpress free account and I would like to buy the bundle upgrade to add to my existing blog my own domain name + different cool themes, etc. Is easy to translate all the contents of my existing free Blog to my new domain?
