Everyday I log in and everyday its tells me my password is incorrect I was not having these issues before and I think as a paying customer I should have the ability to contact someone directly and not post this on some public forum!! this is outrageous. I dont have time to wait until someone has a chance to answer back on some forum....if my password is being changed daily then something serious is going on.

Why don't you test changes before foisting them on people?

We test most changes for a month or two ourselves before deploying them.

My blog has been useless for days now, and there has been no response from WordPress.

You have received a response from us, please continue that discussion over there: http://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/links-65

I gave you my money for something that worked, changing it is stealing from me.

I'm sorry for the trouble, but you paid for a domain registration. That is what you received, and that is what you still have. http://alexjsquire.com/

There is no way that a constantly changing format is preferable to a solid, reliable one.

If we didn't make updates, you'd be stuck with the same old thing from 2005. No widgets, no tags, no video embeds, no custom domains, 7 themes, etc. If you want a WordPress installation that is never updated, I recommend managing your own. http://wordpress.org/

After millions of people abandoned MySpace when it became useless through endless tampering, why would anyone follow that business model?

We have never followed MySpace's business model. This is a blogging service, not a social network.

I've lost two days to this problem so far, will I be compensated in any way?

I'm sorry for the trouble, but you paid for the domain, and that has continued to function properly. If you'd like this problem to be resolved, please return to your original thread: http://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/links-65

By the way, Blogger still works like Blogger, and tumblr still works like tumblr.

Yes, except for the major functionality and design upgrades that they went through over the past 7 years, just like us. They also run into the same bugs, just like us. That's part of what running a live system is all about. You can test something with 120 employees all you want, but once you release it to (currently) 42,164,656 users, someone is bound to find something you missed.

Again, if you need help with your issue, please return to your previous thread: http://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/links-65

1) they don't. Their changes have been tested but obviously bugs slip through sometimes. WordPress is pretty good.

2) people abandoned Myspace because they were tired of being greeted with Evanescence everywhere they went.

3) you didn't pay me for anything, so I don't owe you anything. If you want to invoice staff, the email is support @ wordpress dot com.

4) no idea. Ask staff.

5) the recent outages at Blogger put things in perspective, don't they? Also, how much downtime does Tumblr have?

Here are a few: Why did staff make untested changes to something that already worked? After millions of people abandoned MySpace when it became useless through endless tampering, why would anyone follow that business model? If I pay for something, and you give me something else, don't you think that is a type of theft? I've lost two days to this problem so far, will I be compensated in any way? Are there any plans to concentrate on stability in the future, or is WordPress simply a sandbox for the programmers, to toy with in any way they feel like, regardless of their clients' needs?

All of these issues are related to my original post, which was not about links. I think these are reasonable questions, and I would direct them straight to WordPress, but they're not really into things like customer feedback and inquiry. This is the closest to contacting the company, so here we are.

By the way, Blogger still works like Blogger, and tumblr still works like tumblr, so it's reasonable to wonder why people are running around trying to fix what ain't broke.

Staff changed something and an accidental side effect is that links just simply pasted in no longer go live. They're looking at how to change it back.

/span> <span style=”font-family:arial;color:#ff00ff;font-size xxsmall

See this? This is your idea of "help". When I try to type into the new post block, it comes out in this miniscule font. Your help, cut and pasted from your support page, does NOT WORK.
Why in the world is your composing font so TINY?
I CAN"T READ IT, FOLKS. I'm OLD. My eyes don't see that well anymore.
Why don't you have a button, like every other word processing program in the whole world, that you may click to change the font size?
I cannot afford your 30 dollar upgrade to make a font larger.
Your 'help" such as it is, is useless to me. I tried doing the HTML stuff and it doesn't work. Maybe I'm not doing it right, but I am NOT an IT or a programmer. I am a biologist. I never thought I'd have to dink around with something as fundamental and basic to a word processing program as font size.
This is inexcusable. It's wrong to force me to spend money I don't have..
PLEASE make it so that I can type in a font size that I can comfortably read. Please. Other blog sites have the capacity to change font sizes. Please make yours the same.

Timethief: Hi. I don't care.

Auxclass: See my reply to our paralegal friend, above. I don't care. I'm not interested in WP's business model—they have high-powered executives who are in charge of finding ways to make money. I, as an empancipated adult, am not required to want to be a part of every scheme they toss on the table.

Notawoodpecker: Thanks for not being a jerk. The internet encourages some folks to develop an enormous set of Keyboard Balls. But I appreciate the fact that you replied civilly.

And everyone: note the sentence below the window in which you're currently typing that advises against ad hominem attacks.

You sound as busy as I am. I'm a librarian and a paralegal and an artist and a writer. I have a small business and do contracted work as well. I multitask and answer forum questions while I'm supervising my business.

We Volunteers are here to help and the way to remove ads from your blog has been stated by me while signed in under my other username account back on Sep 6, 2012, 8:29 AM. The only way to get rid of all advertising on our free hosted WordPress.com blogs is to purchase an annually renewable No-Ads upgrade. http://en.support.wordpress.com/no-ads/

We Volunteers aren't here to listen to venting. As there's not much that can be said about people who enter contracts without reading the terms in them that could be characterized as competent. You can blog off and I'll move along to the next thread.

It's not necessary to do that. It's only an option. Most people won't see the ads anyways.

I'm one of those bloggers, of course, who didn't bother to pore over the entire ToS—I have a day job, and better things to do in the evenings than to encourage lawyers in their quest for infernal domination—and I was surprised to hear a report from a friend that ads were showing up on my blog.

Seems like a slick way to extort a tidy $30 out of us end users, and nothing more. I'll be exploring other options... perhaps WP has run its course for me. Sure, the branding is all nice and squishy, but beneath the spackle, it's just another sharky business hell-bent on squeezing its faithful for every drop of blood it can get.

Once I copy & paste my blog onto the one I'll transfer it to, I'll be totally done with WordPress, thank goodness. I can't believe how it worked flawlessly my first two months on the blog, and then all of a sudden it went to pot. Enough was enough.

There's no need for any of you to post any more replies to what I've said here.

@bloomingtailsdogduds
You're welcome.

Well, I had problems galore with WordPress, so I'll no longer use it.

I can help with that. Provided you are logged in under the username account that registered the blog you can delete it by using these instructions. http://en.support.wordpress.com/delete-site/
Please note that deleted blog URLs are not recycled.
http://en.support.wordpress.com/recycling-blog-names/

Although username accounts are not deleted at WordPress.com http://en.support.wordpress.com/deleting-accounts/ please note the following:

1. You can go to My Account->Edit Profile and remove all data except the account name and an email address. Create a throwaway email address and change the account email to that throwaway address. This only leaves the username behind.

2. To unsubscribe from email sent to you from WordPress.com, go here and click on “Block all subscription emails from WordPress.com”:
http://wordpress.com/#!/following/subsettings/

3. To ensure the account is locked up tightly, visit this site, generate a password of 15-20 characters, and change the account password to it:
http://www.thebitmill.com/tools/password.html

4. While you cannot completely delete your Gravatar profile, you can remove all of your profile information easily through the "Edit My Profile" page here:
http://en.gravatar.com/profiles/edit/?noclose#about-you

You can also hide your Gravatar profile from external access. Visit your profile page (click your name in the top navigation of the website), then click the "Hide My Profile" link in the bottom, right-hand corner.
