Hello everybody.

I was just wondering if my second blog is visible to everybody online... When I started my first blog, I instantly had visitors and viewers there, but it seems like my second one is not getting any viewers...

I know that you can select which blog will be your primary blog, and I wonder if it's effecting this issue.... What do you think? I appreciate any suggestion!

That's called spamdexing and search engines like Google and will bury you content where the sun don't shine for doing that over-tagging.

The rule of thumb is to assign the least combined number of categories and tags that accurately describe the post content.

As you have assigned a combined total that exceeds 15 Categories/Tags to your posts, you need to edit and delete. http://en.support.wordpress.com/posts/edit-posts-screen/ After removal note it may take several days for your posts to begin displaying there.

The blog looks fine in IE8 and as IE9 and IE10 are the most recent versions note that IE7 is not supported and has not been for over a year now.

If you are not running one of the browsers and versions listed at http://browsehappy.com/ please try upgrading or switching first.

Note: If you are using an IE9 browser in compatibility mode that makes it render as IE7 and IE7 is not supported. To disable see > http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/1196-internet-explorer-compatibility-view-turn-off.html

1. Try clearing your browser’s cache:

Hi guys,

I've been blogging on a Mac and was recently made aware that my blog looks horrible when visited on IE!
I've read threads on images disappearing and text looking odd, but I can't even see my text!

I don't paste text from Word - I noticed that could've been a problem. I write directly in the text box WordPress provides.

Any help??

The answer is "no". You cannot crop the sticky post thumbnails to suit you. The software does this automatically and you cannot override that.

I'm using the Oxygen theme in as simple/straightforward way as I can. I'm dutifully uploading an image (and designating it as the featured image) with each post -- can I alter what WP.com "chooses" as the visible portion (for those images that are larger than the featured image area)?

Is there a way that the names of the people following my blog can be visible rather than it just showing the number of people subscribed? I would like this to show on the sidebar with the other widgets I have selected.

Pages are static. They sit outside of the blog structure and you cannot post to multiple pages in any blog. There is only one main page for posts in a blog and all posts will show on the main blog page. There is no way to exclude posts from the main posts (blog) page.

What’s critical is:
(1) a clear comprehension of the differences between pages and posts > http://en.support.wordpress.com/post-vs-page/
(2) a clear comprehension of the fact that there is only one dynamic page in a blog for posts and we cannot post to more than that one page. But we can create the appearance that we have posted to more than one page. We organize posts by assigning categories to them. You can either put the categories widget into the sidebar, or you can create a custom menu and add the categories into the custom menu.

If you do not want all the posts to show on the main page, then you can create a static front page for your site. If you wish, you can also create a “blog” page, but you do not have to if you do not want to.

Choice 1 static front page.
Choice 2 running page for all posts on front page.

Which do you choose? It's one or the other.

If you choose Choice 1 static front page then you have to create two pages. One for the static front page which you can call anything you choose example "Welcome", and one for the blog posts to appear on which you can call anything you choose example "Blog". Hi guys,
I have one question: How can I make my new posts to be visible only in the category where I put them, and not to show up on the first page, at the top?
You see I want my first post to stay always first and nothing else to be seen when you first come on the site. Then every post that I will update will be in appropriate category, and I want it to show up and be seen only in that category, so that if you go in that category than you can see it, but not to show up on my "home page".

You JUST set it up: you answered your own question.

It can take seven weeks for search engines to index new blogs, and WordPress.com excludes brand new blogs from the tag searches. Once you've been here awhile making posts, eventually you will show up. It doesn't take long but just long enough to establish you're not in it for quick fame or spamming.

You made your blog private, and all of your posts private.

Private posts can only be viewed by actual users on the blog (contributors, authors, editors, and administrators), not viewers.

If your whole blog is private, there's no need to make each post private too, unless you want to hide things from your viewers.

I thought of using the .jpg file method before, but I've just never got around to it. So it's good to know that it does work. As for the scrobd method... Smart thinking -but it's just not for me. :-) I don't want be forced to post all of my work through another site, just so I can post my work on MY site.

Here is an example in my post with both scribd and a picture for multiple options.:

you can upload a large "screen shot" as an image and insert the thumnail. into your post. Click on the image or if the visitor have mouse hover preview ap, they can see "preview image".

With preview thumbnail(s) you would still have to add the text or thumbnail link to your pdf download separately.

you can also see in my example the scribd embed...

[opinion] personally , Now: I prefer using thumbnail previews and text links instead of the scribd embed , because the embeds take a lot more time to page load. [/opinion]
