Google verification not working Add a meta tag to your site's home page.
I've done this before but for my new site it isn't working. I've followed all instructions to the letter & Google is "unable to verify" the site.
From webmaster tools I chose - Add a meta tag to your site's home page.
I've pasted that in my wordpress/tools/Google webmaster tools & saved.
Gone back to Google webmaster & clicked verify. Not working.
I've also tried to find my homepage to insert the html code ...any fixes please

One other thing to keep in mind is that Google is not perfect, and sometimes verification will not work because of something on their end. I've had many instances where I've had to try two or three times over several days and then magically it works using the exact same procedure of all the "failed" attempts.

Even if you do not verify the blog the content will be indexed by search engines so don't feel panicky about this please. Also note it takes weeks of publishing unique content that cannot be found elsewhere on the interment for Bing and Google to index your content. For 10 factors that expedite indexing of your content see > http://onecoolsitebloggingtips.com/2010/01/21/omg-i-cant-find-my-blog-on-google/

WordPress.com automatically provides the search engines with sitemaps. There's nothing we bloggers need to do.
