Try this: go to Settings->Writing and make sure you have selected "Wordpress should correct invalidly nested XHTML" and save. Then take the widget out of the sidebar entirely. Then put it back in. See if that helps. If not, I think you will need staff assistance.

If so it will only operate if you enter the URL for a page, not your Facebook Profile.

Saying this is an issue on GoodReads' end does not do enough to guide the WordPress user. WordPress offers the GoodReads widget. WordPress users should disable the widget, or complain to GoodReads, or what? (WordPress has no responsibility for whether the widgets it offers works?)
