I suggest instead that if you're creating a new website on WP.org you simply Import your existing posts to the blog section and set the WP.com blog as Private. Alternately, you can buy a subdomain for the blog here and then it'll be something like blog.yoururl.com and you can link to it from your other site.

I was thinking of creating a new website on wordpress.org with my current domain name, firesurvivors.com and integrating my wordpress.com blog somehow. I am wondering how this is possible? Should I have a separate domain for my blog, like firesurvivorsblog.com? I am hoping that I will be able to start working on it this fall in school. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

We can only transfer followers who have signed up using the Follow options in Jetpack.

For other blog followers, your best bet is to post an update that directs your followers to your new WordPress.com site.

Your content can be exported from your .ORG install and imported to a blog here - things like Widgets and such will need to be rebuilt here as they can't be moved - you can also map your existing custom domain name to your blog here ( $ 13.-- / year) so the old search links and bookmarks and such will still work since your Permalink structure is the same on your .ORG install as they are here

You are welcome to continue using your WordPress.com account to log in to the Reader and follow blogs here! You can also export your subscriptions from the Edit Blogs I Follow page if you want to move to a different method of following blogs. Note you will need to obtain the name server values from your current host. You should be able to find them on their support documentation, or contact them and ask for the information. (Name servers may be referred as "nameservers" or "NS records" instead.)

AFAIK MX is for mail. You might try just
ns1.BlueHost.com for the DNS 1 and
ns2BlueHost.com for the DNS 2 if this is what you have been instructed to use.

I can't tell you more because I never bought a domain name from wordpress.com so I don't know what the zone editor used looks like.
